Yes thank you.. I've been a fan of these old-school games like pac man and tetris. Got to admit tho pac man has been challenging. Gonna try give these tips a go
Wow I was doing two of the first patterns by instinct and also noticed the junctions on top of the ghost house but not the ones below. This was super helpful. Hopefully I can get past Galaga stage now
Pretty cool tips. I've been playing the Namco version on my PS4 and starting to understand the AI better. There are several more helpful tips in this video I was not clear on. Thanks for the video!
Thanks - I have been playing the Switch version of this and Galaga (when my son isn't on Minecraft) and it has been great fun. This has let me get to level 5+ of PacMan. It's great playing the old 80's arcade games again!
Pac man ghost AI explained. Blinky (the red ghost) has the target of the tile pac man is on. Pinky (the pink ghost) has a target of 4 tiles infront of pacman, but when pacman is facing up, its 4 tiles up and 4 tiles 2 the left. Inky (the blue ghost) is a bit complicated. For inky, there is a placeholder target tile, like pinky, but instead of 4 tiles infront, its 2 (and it has the same effect when pacman faces up but just 2 tiles). Have this tile track the postion of blinky and rotate it 180°. That is inky's target tile. And Cylde (the orange ghost) doesn't have a random path. If Clyde is in a radius of 8 tiles of pacman, then he goes to his corner of the map, the bottom left. But when Clyde goes outside of the 8 tile pacman radius, then he has the target of the tile pacman is on, like blinky. NOTE: This is only for chase mode, scatter mode has its own way (scatter mode is when the ghosts go to their corner of the map and its NOT when the ghost are blue, thats rng) Hope this helped!
@Saxmasta387 hey mom said she needs you to fly back home this weekend. Something about repairing the nest. She is getting old and that thing is in tatters. I tried to get her to fly down to Florida and live here but she is stubborn and you know she hates the heat. 🤣😂😂
@@armymp1343 same with me. I got the first 2 down within a few hours but I always seem to mess up on the 3rd one. I know it’ll just take more trial and error and more practicing until the pattern is fully memorized.
Thanks so much for the tips/advice I used your info plus my own tactics and I was able to get an achievement on pac-man reworld that I was struggling to get!!
this game just stole a quarter & raised my BP in the minute it took me to die when it first csme out and it still raises my breathing rate watching you play.
Hi..beimg expert at pacman 40 years ago...there was a book explainging routes..to which you are using except the route takes you to a pill to eat for ghosts for maximum points...so your apple route is missing the last bit of the route...more importantly when you get to the 9th key...there is a completely new route as the ghosts do not chane blue no more only chnage direction..and route clears the whole maze...from memory...been a while 😊
Dude ur pattern is working so well....just had a question..how did you make ur pacman look really better than the original (like the graphics) Thnx dude
I've seen the game go against these rules though. I don't know if its a bug in my arcade or what. Just recently Pinky has come up through the top junction multiple times. I've been trying to tape it. And I was trying to ward off Pokey but he came upward at me and ran into me. It wasn't really a fast way to his corner. Bizarre stuff.
i thought the apple pattern wouldnt work starting at key 9 so what your saying is the other video where you showed 4 patterns you dont even need to know the alleged 9th key pattern and can just use the apple pattern starting at the apple onward and get to the kill screen? well damn im gonna have to try it
For some reason on the very first level I keep running into red at the turn off on the bottom heading to the second power pellet. Im pretty sure my turns have been frame perfect; I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
@Colton Seitz I think it’s a variation thing. Like sometimes the ghosts go slightly different ways whenever you get the power pellet. I’ve mimicked his route though a lot now, so I think I got it. High score is 82000, I think I’m just gonna let it rest there because no one else in my family will beat that.
This helped me get all the missions for Pac-Man in Pac-Man Museum+. Only 13 more games to go... Most of which don't have guides for them, or at least not as comprehensive as this one. 💀
Hi, I don't understand because you're mention Speedy, Bashful as character names, but Puck Man Set 1 uses japanese names, instead. Also at 4:19, the ROM you are using is Midway, not "pure" / original Namco... I'm lost.
@@bassettgames8076 did you ever find out? Im racking my brains trying to figure out what it is. Its obviously a remix but I wanna say the original is from a film or something? Searching the provided song name in the video doesnt produce any results either T_T
@@cartoon7202 Yeah I know what you mean haha. I actually forgot about this and then when I saw that you replied to my comment I was like oh no think think think and I was trying to remember what movie it was from haha
Maybe try them in a different order (some conversions do this, watch the blue ghost, if it comes out straight away on maze 1, use the pattern for maze 2). Or get an arcade machine :) Thanks for watching the video.
The behaviour of the ghosts in the arcade version means they all follow specific rules. Chances are that you are playing a conversion that looks the same but does not have the same programming behind it. Google for an emulator programme called MAME. Mame plays the original arcade program so you know the behaviour will be the same as the arcade machine.
I'm not to bad at Pac man never anything super high I usually score around 100,000 but never can get much further than board 14 now Ms Pac man different story in usually get over 150,000 and 18-24 boards
Sorry, theres a lot of RNG (randomness) in Miss PacMan. I will make a video on it one day as there are many strategies you can use, but no patterns, sorry.
@Vozzoc Gaming pattern 1 of this video is the beginning of the pattern I learned as a youth. But this pattern doesn't continue the same as the one learned after the first power dot pacman eats. I can't recall the whole pattern, it was more than 20 years ago. But I recall using that one pattern to win the game everytime I played. Wondered if it's the same pattern @maddetox was talking about
The AI remains the same from level to level, but the speeds vary so I would be surprised if there was one route that worked on every level. But on this one you have 2 practically identical routes, then a third thatlefts you go on for ages. Good luck! Please like and subscribe, thanks!
Nice video. I found this one too that might be helpful... I dont know which version it applies to but it is kinda similar to your explanation ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ataGotQ7ir8.html&ab_channel=RetroGameMechanicsExplained
this is a "pattern" style game !! ... if you know the pattern, you win !! ... if you DON'T know the pattern, you LOSE !! ....DUH-DUH-DUH !! .... i've known this for 40 years !!!
