I noticed that little nod toward the recent chess controversy (what a world we live in today!) and I'm glad you aren't diving into the drama. But the anti-elitism message is good; that's something I hope more people will take away from this. I just can't understand why promoting an active player base would ever be frowned upon.

I agree. Chess should definitely not be about who can play well and who can't play well. Everyone should just be equal. And dishonest. And fake. And boring. Anyone who's remotely interesting, honest or controversial should immediately be excluded. Let's start with Ben Finegold. He's the worst. . While we're at it, Aman's sarcasm is elitist too. Let's just take everything he says literally. Let's pretend that he really does admire the Jerome, and the blogger who champions it. Let's act like there's no "elitist" sarcasm in this video at all. And let's make it very clear that Rick Kennedy is in no way the butt of the joke here.

deinse82 difference between being better than everyone at something, and being ‘elitist’ about that fact. One is skill, one is attitude and outward portrayal of oneself. And no, his sarcasm is not elitist. It’s just sarcasm. He’s not doing it to put himself up, he’s making light of what is an objectively bad opening to get some laughs on people’s faces without any negative light.
