If I was your guest you would have take legal action to have me remove. You are such an considerate, kind man with a warm luminous soul that would make it hard to leave your presence and home. You are the definition of home 🏡
I had to chuckle when he left the room… it sounded like things were falling, just like my house. How can you not love Rajiv… he is just the sweetest guy.
I loved Mr Rogers really I did. But with Rajiv I really really want to watch every single teeny tiny detail. Definitely they must have the same type of wonderful, caring, loving kind of heart and soul. It is rare and beautiful and should be protected like precious art.
I was seconds away from leaving a similar comment. His attention to detail and joy while doing it is inspiring to a clutter collector like me. I’ve learned to be a bit more intentional with the things I own and buy and for that I’ve come to enjoy them a bit more.
As fellow cold person who struggles to get warm in bed, I highly recommend an antique stoneware bed warmer. It's essentially a ceramic water bottle that goes at the foot of the bed. It stays warm for hours, even longer if you knit a cozy for it. They aren't incredibly common but I have found them at estate sales. A life changing discovery for me!
I use those magic bags/microwave heat bags as a foot warmer.. much easier to find and quick to use 🤗 cold hands and feet are no longer a painful sleepless night issue
@@sjain8111 It doesn't go in the oven, you fill it with hot water like a hot water bottle. It does get quite hot, though, that's why I made a cozy for it.
I’m 73 years old, and putting the fitted sheet on my bed has been a “chore” for many years! I NEVER knew to put a sheet on from opposite corners! I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m going to. Also I would like to store my sheets just as neat as when they come out if the package. I can do pretty good, but it is an effort.I only have a full size or double bed……and have a hard time…..what do King size bed owners do? Great video! Thank our!
@@rajivsurendra Totally cool suggestion !! We love you Rajiv !! Everything you do, you simply do it so well ! You've got this awesome approach on life, love it !🌻
Love the analogy of the ultra warm duvet and the arms of a big warm man! Yea, I have to use my cat as a bed warmer! LOL!! What a gorgeous combination of flannel sheets and cashmere throw! I already have the summer linen sheet set….now I must have the winter cozy sheets! Portugal makes the BEST flannel IMO! Cozy fan tutti!!! You are the best!! Keep reciting poetry, keep making the best beds, keep decorating with sunflowers and old chalk boards! You are irreplaceable, my friend!!
This is a tragedy! Where are all the big, handsome men to keep Rajiv warm? Come on people, he is the whole package, hot, smart, creative, funny and wise.
I’m about to submit my application. :sings an Italian aria while carefully using his handmade pen knife to sharpen a quill from a turkey he rescued and nursed back to health so he can craft a letter to Rajiv on recycled paper he hand pressed with ink he ground from walnuts harvested sustainably from a tree he grew: 😂I kid but I fear this level of commitment would be needed to catch his eye.
@@michaelraymond952That's too funny 🤣🤣🤣 I'm rooting for you! But maybe it's better if we're not exactly like the one we desire. Opposites not only attract, but they balance each other. So I think you being you is just perfect 🥰
I just discovered this channel a couple of days ago, and I just love it! It is better than "Martha Stewart Living!" Rajiv does everything so artfully and with such aplomb that it just inspires me to live artfully as well.
It’s beautiful and so inviting looking. If there’s a gap between the top of the mattress and the sofa back, you can fill it with the sofa’s seat cushions, which will make a padded headboard. Nice for reading in bed, or watching movies with your buddies. 😊
Perfect. I recall my mother winterising my bed each year about 70 years ago. How I loved those sheets and the winter woollen under blanket made such a difference. You made the perfect bed . ❤️
I have seen Brook Linen sponsored on many other channels, but I trust them more now that I've seen you promote them since I know you only purchase and associate yourself with things of the highest quality. Will give them a look!
For guests that suffer from the cold, I also like to put a pure woollen Whitney blanket under the flat sheet , it really keeps them toasty. (and for my mum a cashmere beany hat and matching socks on the pillow for her) wool definitely has the ultimate cosy factor.Great video and great tips ,thank you.
You are just a joy to watch . Your many talents ; your bubbly personality , your wit , your humor, your exquisite taste for fine things ….. you should have a show on TV , seriously ! You are a male version of Martha Stewart but much nicer and more humble . Love you Rajiv
Rajiv is a very cultured and laid back person. His videos are so serene but informative. The videos keep your attention!! Thanks Rajiv for sharing this video. I will be researching Brooklinen products!!
As someone who grew up in denmark and france, the sheet americans have between the duvet and the bedsheet always amused me (or enraged me when they did not have a duvet over ?? Sleeping without duvet ? Criminal) In denmark we switch out the duvets seasonally, to suit the changing climate - as it gets so so very cold here (-)_(-) In france we keep bags of lavender dried flowers between sheets and in sock drawers ❤ A great tip for a winter bead from my mother - sew up a cotton bag and fill with grains (wheat or rice both work) , before bed you put it in the microwave or low oven to heat, and then put it in the bed between the sheet and duvet. When you get in bed your sheets are pre warmed, so comforting!
A beautiful bed in an informative, entertaining and artful video. Rajiv, if you haven’t already, I truly hope you find the someone perfectly suited for you!
Everyone needs these videos. They are so comforting and heartwarming ❤ I love how you teach people to have pride in their homes and how you treat your things with respect. You have to be the most beautiful soul I've ever seen. I wish I knew someone like you in my life!
Hi Rajiv - you are absolutely adorable - you are so likable- plus you also have a very relaxing persona - Thank you so much for the videos- I always thoroughly enjoy them xx
I just found your channel two days ago and let me tell you, what a joy it has been to watch you speak and share with us some of your interests! There´s just something really refreshing and beautiful about the way you view life and the way you speak to us with such gracefulness that is really heartwarming and makes me feel grateful for all the small joys of everyday life! Thank you for sharing with us your thoughts and experiences, I really appreciate it!
Oh my goodness, you are in for a treat! I watched Rajiv on HGTV videos for quite a while and everybody was commenting - me included - that he needed his own channel. Finally this year! There's lots for you to go back and watch. Rajiv is so gracious and knowledgeable and curious and funny and loves to share what he's learned. A beautiful man!
Idk why I always get the same feeling when I watch your videos. Like calm and grateful. Makes me thing that we should love everything that surround us. People, spaces, things.
As a cold person who struggles to get warm even with a very warm sleeping husband sleeping next to me, this was really helpful and informative! Thanks.
Tucking in with a hot water bottle (or two- one for feet & one for torso) is my best go to when just too cold to be able to relax & go to sleep … much more comfy & cozy than an electric blanket for me … water heat is MUCH MORE healthy than electric heat … hospitals use water heat too as the benefits are obvious to the medical community are proven… Glad to see you emphasize the need for bed winterization techniques🥰
I have a wool mattress topper, two down duvets (one with an allergy proof cover which is very tightly woven so retains warmth), a wool blanket and if needed a hot water bottle too! The heating goes off at night and I'm never cold.
60 years ago I had a sleepover at a new friend's house. It was my first cold winter since moving to D.C. from Key West. their guest rooms were in their finished basement and I slept in a twin bed with down mattress topper and a down comforter...it was like sleeping in a very warm, dense cloud.
That’s a very welcoming guest bed. Lovely quality sheets. Our English winters aren’t that cold these days so I use a silk filled duvet. It’s light but warm in winter and cool in summer. The cashmere blanket is gorgeous. Have a look at traditional welsh blankets some time. They are wool with beautiful designs.
I do that with soap. I make my own and always have some amongst my linens. I love your sofa bed and the story of buying it. Such provenance. I’m looking for a sofa bed to free up space in my spare bedroom, so that I can also use it for crafting. Seeing yours has given me the encouragement to give that some attention.
Oh my goodness! So happy to have rediscovered you Rajiv. Love this beautiful video that has inspired ways to keep my aging Dad a bit warmer this year. Us Canadians still need wise encouragement and you are an incredibly pure pleasure to witness. Thank you and can’t wait to continue watching.
Always good tips and lovely aesthetic. Really appreciate the kitty-corner approach to fitted sheets! Who knew!? For older people, it is also advised to not tuck in the bottom of the top sheet which can cramp older feet. Interestingly, I believe that Europeans do not use a top sheet when using a duvet and cover. Americans tend to use both sheets with a quilt, the top sheet protecting the quilt so that it requires only periodic washing.
I loved how the guest bed turned out!, so cozy and beautiful!! BTW I loved the quote from Emily Dickinson. My favorite one is:. "Me from Myself to Banish...." Thank you Rajiv!
I'll keep watching every video he produces as this is one beautifully complex man. You have to watch his videos multiple times to take it all in. @4:06. When he spoke of watching a movie with guests on his 'Confuser' 🙌, I realized I have never seen a TV in his apartment. His intentionality is so clear and speaks volumes as you travel with him through the series.
If I were in the US, I'd order the hell out of these sheets from them, and then some. It's so lovely and the colour scheme and coordination is just delightful. Looks very cosy, I envy that night's sleep!
I had no idea I needed to learn how to winterize a bed. So many great tips ! I never imagined I would need a flat sheet with my covered duvet... and the blanket under the fitted sheet ? That’s genius. Not all mattresses have a winter side. Thank you for reminding me of the bar of soap trick. I use lavender filled cloth bags but bars of soap can make it extra special as you can choose different scents according to the pattern of your sheets or to the person you’re making the bed for, cause yeah, some of my guest beddings are designated to special someones. Also, I buy one extra pillow case to put the folded sheets and cover and cases in so they are protected from dust and be put away nicely without fear of misplacing a piece.
Now that is a bed I would love to sleep in. That looks very warm and comfortable, I can't stand being cold so I sleep with my head under the blankets to keep warm
Fantastic video Rajiv, only you can make how to winterize a bed such an interesting procedure. Love the colours you chose for the bed. And that was an extremely good story about how you acquired the bed. Not often that one can get that lucky. Excellent find. Thank you for making these videos that are so varied but always of value at the same time. Take care and stay blessed.❤
Hello from Canada. When I was young ( I’m 66) our pullout couch had space between the mattress and back of the couch to fit the couch pillows. I think yours does too. Makes it even more comfortable
And that's how I make beds. Opossite corners for fitted sheets. Right side of flat sheets facing dow. I even sewed cotton ribbons to duvet and duvet cover, only I do one in each corner and one in the middle, so it doesn't get pulled down in the middle. I'm northwestern spaniard and garment and linen industry in Portugal takes most of us to go and buy there, at least once every year, for our home beddings, towels, table clothing, etc. Vilanova da Cerveira, Caminha and Viana are my favourite places.
Rajiv is the exact kind of friend i wish i had, he is such a renaissance man, a jack of all trades. He is soo smart, curious, and eclectic. I never meet people like this!
You are like the Mr. Rodgers or Bob Ross of living luxuriously yet simply. All of your videos have a kind of reassuring calmness that could lower anyone's blood pressure and inspire them to make changes to make life more beautiful and elevated.
Brookelinen uses the company of Sam Pedro, which is one of the best bedding factories in Portugal! So so glad you love them 🤗 when taken care of the sheets can last many years!
I love Brooklinen bedding! I haven't winterized my bed yet (because the weather has been so up and down, and I am a hot sleeper), but once I'm tucked into my linen sheets and quilt, I never want to get up.
I enjoyed the Chopin music in the background ❤ The piano version of Schubert's (Liszt) Wintereisse, Gute Nacht would be perfect for this video too. Going to hunt down some cotton flannel sheets now!
I am shopping for new flannel sheets this weekend! I have visitors arriving next weekend. I live in Minneapolis and a cozy, beautiful bed for my guests is a must. Thank you for your beautiful and educational videos.
I love my Brooklinen sheets and duvets. I saved up for them and am so happy I did. I have the linen and the cotton sateen, flannel is to warm for me even in the winter, also have a lighter weight duvet from them that I use all year. Just need a nice hot water bottle for my feet, the only part that ever feels cold. *Would have loved seeing the full duvet into cover part. I think that can be a struggle for many people. I found a video on RU-vid about 12 years ago on how to do the inside out burrito roll. With a queen size bed I was so grateful to learn that😊
You, Rajiv, are my calm oasis in a crazy world that's getting crazier by the minute... And *NO* , we do NOT need to absorb that craziness. What we *can* do is learn to winterize our beds, create our own reality of peace and calm, and be the light for others... ✨️✨️✨️
A big warm man! Don't we all want one of those! All duvet covers SHOULD HAVE A TIE! nuff said. Love you, love your videos, the world is a better place because of you!
As a Massachusettsestian I really appreciate this! Also so glad you enjoyed and broadcasted the Fashioned by Sargent exhibition at the MFA- your video on him really inspired me and I really want to visit. We are very lucky here to have so many wonderful museums.
i am a 67 yo "masshole" and i grew up with no heat in the bedrooms ( and still sleep in a cold room) i need layers....2 cotton blankets and 2 cotton filled quilts....a dog and 2 cats...
Just wanted to show my appreciation and say that I love you Rajiv. Your content is a breath of fresh air. Thank you for taking the time to create your beauty and share it.
I can't get enough of you! You are my spirit animal!! ❤ can I say that? You jist touch my heart to my core. My mother would have loved you amd you her! She was a red head opera singer in New York City. She was born in 1921 and grew up in LA and San Fran and raised Quaker and Christian Science and she was the deepest soul I've ever known. Pure like the most rarified air yet utterly down to Earth. She was a spit fire and quicker than quick silver. Her mind shaper than a tack. Her soul like the beauty of meditation after a lifetime in silence in the highest mountain mountains of Tibet ❤. You are a precious king dear Rajiv. A glorious jester. A magnificent professor. A father and mother, auntie and uncle, brother and sister to us all. We love you! ❤🎉🌟 All the joyous blessings upon your brilliant crown down to your sacred dancing toes and into your inimitable singing heart!🎉❤ 🌟 🤩 ⭐️ 🌠 💫
I got my 100% cotton-covered, genuine down comforter for a steal on eBay because it was being resold from a store display 👌 I switched over to my fall/winter bedding last week but then the weather in Massachusetts decided to get warm again 😅
Ok confession, I have watched this video about five times, I know, I'm a weirdo 😊. I purchased a vintage bed last month from Facebook Market Place and purchased a flannel sheets bundle from Brooklinen and now I am in the process of creating an amazing guest bed. Thanks for the inspiration. If there was a Rajiv network filled with shows approved by you and of course, many hosted by you, I would cancel all of my other subscriptions. That sounds so corny... but true. Thank you, you make my heart smile ❤
Just about to change my sheets from the summer version to winter and needed motivation! Rajiv, I don't have no man so the big comforter is definitely for me as I get cold too, lol. You are the best, we love you, and keep those videos coming!
I smile when you talk about huddling into the sofa bed to watch movies on your laptop and popcorn. When I visit my daughter we do the same things. The laptop part is such a new experience, because I am use to TVs. But, she doesn’t have and doesn’t want a TV. She is a transient student right now. The thought that others do what we do sounds so cozy.
Rajiv, u r an intelligent guy with a fun sense of humor. The selection of warm linens is beautiful and so inviting. Thanks for another inspirational video.
Loving this channel more and more with every video ❤❤❤ Rajiv is surely going to manifest a big, worthy, strong man with such a fine showcase of the domestic arts
