In this video I show you how I Winterize my Honda CRF 300L. My bike stays outside all year long, and I live in Canada so the conditions can be hard on machinery. 1. Battery tender is a must. These bikes don’t have kick starters so keeping the battery alive is #1 and always using a battery tender while the bike sits outside is a good way to extend its life. Especially if you’re not bringing the battery, or bike inside.
2. All Season coolant, fresh oil, and oil filter. It’s a good time to change the air filter if it’s close to its change date anyways. Fresh oil is good to have when the bike will be sitting for a while because any metal shavings or grit in the engine can potentially cause unwanted damages.
3. Fuel stabilizer. Add the correct amount to the bike, and top the tank off with fuel to the top. Run the bike, or ride it to run the “mixed” fuel through the lines, etc.
4. Wash the bike, and scrub the chain clean. After the bike is clean I like to spray the bike down with some Meguiar's “ceramic spray wax”, and then give the chain, and any moving parts a nice spray with some chain wax, or grease of your choice.
5. Tarp the Bike. An all season tarp is a nice way to keep the bike clean, and help it not gather any ice and snow build up on the gage cluster, and triple clamp. Any Protection from the cold weather and its harsh elements is beneficial in my eyes.
6. Disk Brake Alarm. Plus any other security you can think of. Chain, Alarms, etc,
