EXCELLENT EXCELLENT, As a major DYI guy I have never winterized my wake until this year, when on Thursday they said yes bring it it on Friday only to learn when I arrived the "guy" that knows how takes Friday's off. So I went to youtube and found you. Thanks to the dealer and you I will ALWAYS do it myself. But as I type this out I just remembered I have to take the battery out !!!! Great video thanks again.

When I first saw the caption I kind of expected a cheesy DIY video, but this was quite good! In Minnesota, I find rather then blowing out the excess water, most places back flush with antifreeze.

@chrishorn2028
@chrishorn2028 9 месяцев назад
Is it really okay to run it for 3 minutes on just the hose? From the videos I've watched and information from the manufacturers you should not run your ski out of water even on a garden hose for more than a minute because your carbon seal on those seadoos can heat up and start melting! I would think running it for 3 minutes would pretty much destroy your carbon seal? I'm not trying to say you're doing it wrong I just want to make sure I know how to do it right :-) maybe 3 minutes is totally okay I don't know?
@chrishorn2028
@chrishorn2028 9 месяцев назад
I shut off valve is a great idea! I would maybe suggest a 2 ft or 3 ft stub of garden hose and then I shut off valve so you're not reaching your hand up in there when it's running. My luck I would hit something or stick my finger where it shouldn't go lol. But that's a good idea having to shut off valve so I'm not running over to the water spicket, I don't like to run :-)

@JMGENTERPRISES
@JMGENTERPRISES Год назад
Exactly! What ski do you own?
@Sea-Doopilot
@Sea-Doopilot Год назад
You change the oil at the end of the season because used oil has a corrosiveness to it. If it sets all winter it's not good on bearings or other metals.
@chrishorn2028
@chrishorn2028 9 месяцев назад
Just like the other person commented I've always been told you need to change the oil at the end of the season on anything, lawn mowers snowmobile jet ski whatever because if you let that oil full of contaminants sit all off season you run the risk of corroding your main bearings and anything else it's touching near the bottom of the engine!

I like the air method but after you turn off the water, I would rev the engine to 4k rpm a few times to blow out most of the water from the exhaust system. Then use compressed air to blow the water out of the cooling system. This is due to the same reason you need the engine running before you turn on the water. You don’t want water traveling up the exhaust into the engine. You can run Kawasakis for 15 seconds with no water per the manual. Probably the same with all PWCs.

@chrishorn2028
@chrishorn2028 9 месяцев назад
Yes I've and told the same thing that you have to have the motor running before you start the water flow but if that's true that it could back up into the exhaust ports then how does that not happen when a person pumps antifreeze into that same system with the motor shut off? Theoretically wouldn't you pump the antifreeze right into the exhaust port and possibly hydro lock the motor the next time you start it ?
@chrishorn2028
@chrishorn2028 9 месяцев назад
Or do you also have to have the engine running when you pump antifreeze into it to winterize it? Thinking about doing it myself but I don't want to wreck the darn motor or risk freezing and cracking the exhaust manifold!
@alexmachine570
@alexmachine570 9 месяцев назад
Yes, engine must be running if you pump antifreeze into it.

hey man nice video, Im new to the jet ski world, but when you charge the battery and is fully charge, do you have to charge it again or just leave it alone? sorry in advanced if its a dumb question
@JMGENTERPRISES

Never a dumb question. I recommend buying a battery maintainer. You leave it connecter to the battery and it keeps the battery healthy.

Would you recommend running antifreeze through the system? That’s what I did last year but I did not own a compressor at the time. Shooting air through should suffice?
@JMGENTERPRISES
@JMGENTERPRISES Год назад
Would probably be best to do both. Run antifreeze through and blow out the water from the exhaust. I never did the anti freeze thing on mine and never had an issue. Let me know what you decide!
@chrishorn2028
@chrishorn2028 9 месяцев назад
So when you add antifreeze to it through the same port that you hook up the water hose, do you need to have the engine running well you're pumping antifreeze into it so you Don't pump antifreeze into the exhaust ports? Or is it better to have the engine off? I'm worried about hydro locking the cylinders if RV antifreeze is pumped up into the exhaust ports. I've never tried to winterize myself so I'm new to this so I'm just trying to make sure I don't blow a head gasket the first time I start the damn thing next year

Thanks for the video. I have seen two other ways to winterize...(1) hook up the quick connect to anti-freeze and gravity feed until it flows out the bottom, I don't remember turning on the engine...(2) use an air compressor to blow out the water. I didn't see you do either. Lastly- can I just put boat in the water when spring is here and not do anything other prep? Of the 2 things above, which do you recommend? Thank you.
@JMGENTERPRISES
@JMGENTERPRISES Год назад
I did hook up an air compressor in my video and blow out the water from the exhaust. Good idea on the anti-freeze. I have never done that option but think doing both the anti-freeze and compressor would be the way to go!

@@JMGENTERPRISES I am confused obviously, and new to these. Yes. I do remember the air compressor, my bad. You replied to both the air compressor and gravity feed the anti-freeze. Why both? I ran my while gravity feeding the anti-freeze and it smoked a little while doing it. Why? I watched a video by someone else who didn't run the engine. Do you know why? Thank you.

How do you blow out water from the exhaust? I have a quick connect which is the only port I have, that's what I ran the anti-freeze thru.

Thanks for replying. Um can I start jet ski with no water. Just for a second to see if it runs.??? I did fog the cylinders.?? I seen you doo it. For a second . Others say no way. Why.?? Lol Thanks 😮 and mine is 96 tripple Yamaha.
@JMGENTERPRISES
@JMGENTERPRISES 10 месяцев назад
Yes you can start it out of water. I've done this many times. I do not recommend letting it run for longer than a few seconds though. Jetskiis are water cooled. Because you are running it out of the water, there will be no cooling for the engine which is not good if it gets too hot. You can buy a hose adapter for cheap so you can connect your garden hose to your jetski!
@jaysan2147
@jaysan2147 Год назад
So if you do the air compressor method; is the marine antifreeze not required?
@JMGENTERPRISES
@JMGENTERPRISES Год назад
I have had seasons where I just use the air compressor and my ski is just fine every season. However, if you live in a very cold climate, where it consistently reaches and stays below freezing temperatures, I would probably do both method.
