Best how to wire relay I've found. Thank you. The led drl's I installed on my 2007 Toyota Tundra caused me problems after 5 years. They came with a harness and tapped into the acc and headlight + so they would come on when the truck was started. I've decided to wire them to a switch in the cab so I can turn them on and off as I choose. I have to figure out which wires are which coming off of the harness. That shouldn't be too difficult. I already have the switch. Just need to get the relay and in line fuse. Thank you. I look forward to future how to videos.

I'm glad you found the video useful, thanks for watching and I wish you luck with your install! Keep in mind that some Toyota's use a "positive ground" setup for their lights. This meaning they don't use the positive wire on the switch, they use the ground on the switch and the power is on all the time. Some quick probing around with a multi-meter will tell you if yours is wired like this.

@@RockyXTV I am building a system for a guy. It's a surround sound system to be used outdoors at a drive in theater. He only wanted one switch, and the switch was rated at only 5A. I knew it would not be enough, especially since I am installing a huge 2.1 amp, and a voltage booster, that will power the amp at 48 volts. I used a 12 volt, 40 A relay. Your video was perfect. If you get a chance, check out my channel. I will definitely be watching more of your videos.

@@strokertwo1 If running multiple things off of a single relay just be sure you don't go over 30 Amps. You really only need one fuse on the line going from Pin 30 to your battery. As for fuse size, that can be calculated pretty easily using this simple formula. Watts divided by Volts equals Amps. Example; you have 3 lights that are 55 Watts each, 55 X 3 = 165. 165W/12.5V=13.2A. In this example you would want to run a 15A fuse. I hope this info helps you out and thanks for watching!

Holy shit. I feel like I can wire anything with this info. I installed fog lights, HID lights, HALO lights, and even switched out my manual windows to power windows. I wired that up with this info. Never expected to add so many accessories. I need to make a relay box to make it look nice. Wires are everywhere.

Great video! The most helpful one I've seen personally. My only question is what prong on the relay would I use when hooking up strip lights to come on with running lights? Thanks

You would tap into your running lights Positive (12V+ Power) and hook that wire to PIN 86 on the relay. This would make the relay come on with your running lights. PIN 30 to the battery Positive with a fuse, PIN 85 to Ground, PIN 87 to your strip lights Positive. I hope that's what you were looking for. Thanks for watching!

I picked up a second factory fuse and relay box from a junkyard. Has most the relays and fuses but not all. I was going to hook it up to organize my current and future accessories. Any idea where I can get the terminals that the relays would plug into in that box and how much power those relays can handle?

The terminals are hard to find, I had to get a bunch a while back. Here's a link to the ones that have the little prong on them - www.amazon.com/Uxcell-Spade-Terminals-6-3mm-Connector/dp/B00UYUCXO2/ref=pd_sim_328_9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=J8RBDBE889H8CADJBSQY The prong is so they snap in place, as for the relays, most are rated at 30-40 amps each.
