@@Calvinm there amazing. Perfect amount of power and weight. And comfort but you can still lean down and knee drag. I have fairings on mine and it looks fantastic with fairings theyre really hard to find tho. And the flush mounted clear turn signals is a must.

If i connect the second relay parallel to headligh relay, it divides the resistance of the coils of relay. Will it couse heat ?

Hi Calvin.. This is a great tutorial, thank you very much for sharing :) I know that you are only using the 9 volt battery just for demonstration purposes! But how does it power a 12v relay? Thanks John :) I have liked & subscribed... :)

Thanks John! You're right, a 9 volt battery isn't perfect for a 12 volt relay but the 9 volt battery had just enough juice to shut the relay and light up the LED.

@@Calvinm Thought that might be the case. I am starting to get interested in basic electronics and just wanted to check. Thanks for the quick reply and have a Nice day 😎

Hi Calvin, sounds U really understand ur circuitry stuff so I have a question... would this relay also help out if the grips seem to not get enough power to stay on? I have this problem with mine they run fine straight of the battery with the engine of but as soon as I start the engine the grips start switching on and of they only seem to constantly stay on if I rev the bike at around 4500 rpm which obviously is impossible to do while driving so the grips turn of or don't even turn on. unless the bike is of?! so... kinda useless. please advice? kind regards Li

Sounds like your charging system isn’t up to the task of powering the grips and bike plus what ever else you have attached electrically. A relay won’t increase the amount of power available. Wire that is too small of a gauge may increase electrical resistance when drawing significant current across it but unless you find the wires that power your grips are getting hot then I doubt that’s your issue. It’s very unlikely a relay will resolve your issue. I would investigate your stator and rectifier to ensure they are in spect.

Hello Calvin MC I hope to help me because I have a problem with my Yamaha FZ6 S2 from 2008 with a mileage of about 63000km, so my problem is with the fan which stopped working a few weeks ago, the problem started when I noticed during a stop at a red light that the temperature is 105 C while the fan does not trigger, I then went to a mechanic and we tested the fan linked directly to the battery and it works , same thing for the relay and the fuse but still the same problem, we then changed the calorstat but the fan does not always trigger, and to prevent the motorcycle from heating up, the mechanic suggested that I link the fan directly to the battery with a relay and a switch that I activate each time the temperature reaches 95 C, but once it is done and despite that I activate the fan from 90 C, the motorcycle heats up at any stop on fire red until 110 where I will have to cut the engine, so I wonder on the one hand if you know who is responsible for operating the fan? on the other hand, I do not understand why the motorcycle heats up when stopped despite the fact that I activate the fan by hand and that it cools down when the motorcycle is in motion! I thank you very much and in advance for your expected advice.

Hmmm it sounds like you have checked all the electrical components to do with the fan. Maybe the relay is having an intermittent failure while riding so maybe try switching out the relay with another one and see if it persists. Also have you bled the cooling system so it doesn’t have any air bubbles? Also maybe clean your radiator of any gunk in between the fins so air can flow through it easily. Also check your overflow hose is in good condition and the overflow bottle has a tight seal with the right amount of coolant in it. I have seen lower coolant temps by adding water wetter to my cooling system so maybe try that. Water wetter basically lowers the surface tension of the water and helps the coolant exchange heat more easily. With all that said my bike will get up to 100 or 102 stopped in traffic with the fan on so I’m not sure how far off 110 really is. If you’re in a very hot and humid climate that would have a negative affect on the bikes overall cooling ability. Best of luck. I’ll do some more digging on the electrical side for the fan and see what I can find! 👍

@@Calvinm Thank you very much Calvin for your advice and your efforts, indeed I live in Morocco in a relatively hot climate and your channel has always been among my preferences for several months. For the relay I have already changed it but without result, I think that the ECU box is responsible for triggering the fan because I couldn't find a thermocontact for the fan except the temperature sensor which probably sends the signal to ECU and which in turn activates the fan. Thank you again Calvin hoping you will find the electric fan shemat to help me, have a nice day.

I'm curious if you've done this on the FZ, and if so where you ran things.. Video? I'm looking for a place to put a relay, busbar & fuzes in the FZ6 and nothings seems great. In the faring is a pain to get to fuzes, inside the frame is so cramped, no room near the battery, considering under the east at the back of the tool compartment, but then the wires have to run all the way back, and front again :/

I have had a relay on the FZ6 in the front fairing on the left hand side. Tucked under the dash and side pod I added a mount for a relay like the one in the video. Another good spot might be in the plastic pods next to the seat but then you have to run long wires which isn’t fun.
