Great video. I have a Daikin Altherma 3 with a buffer tank and separate CH circulation pump, the system was installed with Hive controls (wish I’d gone with Madoka), but Hive seems to be the only control of the circulator pump. As an example, the circulator pump stays on when the DHW is heating. I’m thinking of moving to Homely controls which will mean removing Hive, but what then controls the circulation pump? I would have thought there would have been a volt free contact in the Daikin unit for the circulator pump, but looking at your wiring info that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Was it a mistake to put the Live and Neutral in a single wago together or am i missing something simple, genuine question. I don’t want to blow anything up
Hi its not live and Neutral, its just a live, for a hot water tank stat that is not required with the Mixergy Direct cylinder, so you just link the 2 wires together.
Great technical presentation and content V informative, thank you. For us seniors, are these fit and forget installs, or do we need tech savvy to adjust for HP vs PV input priority to the tank winter/summer etc? Also, are these suitable for hard water areas - do they need descaling etc to keep efficiency? Very impressed!
I'm not an installer but thank you for this, its an interesting video. If you were looking at getting an Air Source Heat Pump would you recommend getting a Mixergy Tank over the manufacturers cylinder? In this case it would be Daikin.
Hi Martin Thanks for your lovely comments. Yes would definitely recommend Mixergy over manufacturers cylinders, gives you so many options, with connecting Solar, heat pump and direct electric.
Could you explain the benefits of the cylinder, the only advantage I can see is that you could heat a small amount of water during the day when electricity is most expensive? Would it not be cheaper to use heatpump to charge cylinder in this case? Cutting off heat pump cylinder sensor are you not allowing the heat pump to modulate having a negative affect on efficiency?
Hey - if the Daikin is receiving a false signal for HW, does that mean it's always fully charged and can't use the "heat 40% of the tank" for example, option?
I have been “advised” that Mixergy do not work well with Vaillant ASHP.! I half-suspect that the person quoting just wants to steer me towards a standard cylinder and is telling tales. Any thoughts ??
Hi Martin You a Daikin “D Checker” this cost us £300. And a laptop. If your an installer it can get the software from the Daikin portal. If not, you will need a Daikin engineer to do it. Cheers
I love your videos I considering having a Daikin AIr to water heat pump installed on my existing heating/warm water system. Current radiators I have are about 20 years old Aluminium radiators, would you suggest to have these replaced as well ?
