I was once in a worship service, on the praise team on stage, the day my sister was to have brain surgery after a stroke. It was that moment, in front of everyone, that I learned what a "sacrifice of praise" was. The entire service was on God's sovereignty, and I chose to believe God is good and sovereign over my life (and hers), regardless of the circumstances.
Hi Mike! Thank you so much for this video! My husband and I do ministry for the youth at our church. We were in small group lessons last night and the topic was worship. This short but insightful video was perfect for me to share with some of the students. We really enjoy watching and sharing your videos but I have to ask, what is your occupation besides an associate pastor? What degree do you have and what school did you study at? I think it’s important to know these things so that it gives us more confidence in the knowledge that you have in and for the Lord. How does one worship in spirit and in truth...? Should I worship through faith despite how angry and frustrated I am with everything and everyone. How does that look like when I feel like blaming God, and cursing my self? It's one thing to know, but it another thing to accept. Come on, what's love without sacrifice? We sacrifice all the time to be polite and for the people we love. This concept has never been foreign to human beings. You just don't love God. Simple.
I feel what you’re saying, yet I think you’re starting on the wrong foot saying “God is love” and then leaving it at that. According to the “book” God is much more than just love. He started out creating a perfect environment for people to enjoy together with Him. Yet man rebelled against God and God cursed him for it. This is something we live with on a daily basis as we still continue to rebel against God. Pain and hurt entered as a result of our being cursed. Now we have a problem, because (next to having perfect love) God has a perfect righteousness, which demands payment. Lukily God did leave it at that. He’s shown his perfect mercy, by coming up with a rescue plan and we’re involved as well. God came, in the person of Jesus, to become a sacrifice, to pay for our continual opposition against Him. He himself payed the price, because justice had to be satisfied. Now that He has opened the way to restore the relation, He invites us to join in. Join in as he prepares to restore our relation with Him and heaven and earth in the process. The reason God has not yet come, is to allow more people, to enter in. The offer still stands. It’s up to you. Acknowledge your state, turn to God and repent. Don’t be late!
That's not what was said. God is love AND it's not important how we feel when it comes to worshipping God. We worship God because he is God not because we feel like ot today. What do you love but you dont have to make some type of sacrifice for? Parents sacrifice for their children all the time not out of suffering though they may suffer in the process but out of love. He cares and it is HIS will for us to obey him because he IS God and he is the only one who truly knows what is best for us ( us as in everyone not just you and not just me) . Of course the Glory belongs to God he is God he is the one responsible for creating us we could not breathe if he doesn't say so so of course the Glory belongs to God why should it be for me or you or this person but not that one. Nothing contradictory about God whenever we think this it is because of a lack of understanding and/ or acceptance. God does not lie not ever. He is the same today as he is tomorrow. He is Good righteous and true always!
