How do you average more than one column, mine doesn't give an error but the calculation is incorrect if I just expand the 'Average Range' to more than one column?

Hi Lene. To calculate an average of the figures in one column where one or more conditions are true, you need to use AVERAGEIFS. The syntax is as follows: =AVERAGEIFS(range_to_average, criteria_range_1, criteria_1, criteria_range_2, criteria_2, criteria_range_3, criteria_3 etc. just keep pairing a criteria range with a criteria for as many as you need.) I have a video here that demonstrates it (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iw-8lQ0w0Ss.html). Check out the video notes to download a demo spreadsheet. I hope that helps. Jason

@@JasonMorrell Hi Jason, I want to average more than one column, (Different team dimensions scored using multiple questions per dimension for multiple teams) but after going through countless forums, it seems that is just not that easy in Excel without a few steps/multiple functions! We will probably move our analysis to R or another software!

Why not create an additional calculation column that first totals the values from the multiple columns you are trying to average, then apply the AVERAGEIFS to the new column ?
