What excites me about personal statements when I read them is the art of storytelling. As a Director of Recruitment for one of the biggest dental group (80+ dental offices) in the United States, I read hundreds of CVs, resumes, cover letters, and personal statements every month. The ones that stand out are genuine, honest, written in a well-thought manner and there is consistency and flow.
