Learn how to write the enduring issues essay on the Global History and Geography Regents Exam! Watch as I go through the process of preparing to write the enduring issues essay from the August 2023 exam and also write sample introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs.

I’m so scared that i’m not gonna know enough outside information to get a decent score on the essay or crqs. Hopefully the regents is kind of like june 2023’s in terms of how hard it is, i thought that one was pretty easy compared to other regents

You can still do well on the essay if you don’t include outside information. If all else fails, focus on explaining how people are affected by your chosen enduring issue in the three chosen documents.

Maybe I’m crazy but I feel like you write 3x more than you need. I’ve done many dbq essays in ap and we never wrote as much as this even with mandatory citing and etc. I’m not trying to act like I know more than you but I am kinda confused by this. Hm probably not. Populations are migrating in some of the documents but not necessarily growing.

You don’t. As long as you have some, you’re good. Focus more on making sure you have solid continuity/change over time in your conclusion paragraph.

Hm I’m not quite sure what your teacher meant, but you should definitely have a short introduction paragraph, body paragraphs for each of the three documents you are summarizing, and a conclusion paragraph. Definitely check out the video for more details.

When mentioning if the issue affected people or if it existed throughout history would that be in the conclusion or throughout the 3 paragraphs (the document analyzation)

In the body paragraphs you should tell the reader how people were affected by the enduring issue in the documents you are writing about. In the conclusion paragraph you can discuss other events outside the documents where people were affected by the issue.

Don’t need to define what an enduring issue is but it couldn’t hurt to do so as part of the opening line of your introduction

How much peices of evidence that the issue CCOT is enough for the conclusion? And does it have to be modern only or can it be evenfrom past the documents? or does time periods of showing how the issue CCOT not matter just give them some? Thank you so much!

It does not have to be modern. You can discuss an event that happened before the documents. Even 9th grade information is acceptable. If you could provide and explain one example, that should go a long way towards a great grade.

Unfortunately there’s no real pattern. You could see any topics from across the curriculum.

It depends. I’ve been doing this a long time so I can do it very quickly. If you haven’t practiced, it might take you a very long time to get through the note taking. At the very least you should write down and during issues that might apply and any outfit information that comes to mind.

You can, but I recommend starting with the multiple choice. It's the most important part of the test in terms of points and doing that part first will jog your memory for necessary outside information in your essay.
