@kiyopon5654 they were tight on budget by having ribery, robben, lucio, Philip lahm, Thomas muller, etc. It was going to be difficult to increase his salary. All big 3 directors of Bayern tried to explain that lahm was going to retire, then they can increase his salary. But kroos was a big player already and real madrid came for him.

@@kiyopon5654 they were in the regional cups, but couldn't do nothing in the champions league. The farthest they reached before 2020 was the quarter final in 2013. Nowadays we see other teams winning trophies. Bayern weren't in any of them. Only 2013. You're right, with that squad and without kroos, they were nothing but regionaliga merchants. Completely trash in the champions league. Reminds me of the story of Inter milan during the 2000s.

@@stephenziga2319 lucio was gone in 2009 lol. and bayern was never tight on budget. you have to understand who uli hoeness is in order to understand this conflict. if you're a person who always passes it off to his agent, hoeness hates you. he wants to sit in the room with the player and rummenigge, brainwash him about becoming a Bayern legend etc and eventually make him sign for peanuts. they did it to dozens of players over the years, it's a power move. but toni was too smart for their bs. only after Kroos became what he became, Bayern eased off on their approach. now someone like Neuer is earning over 20 million euros a year.
