All I can say is WOW 🤔😱😳. This city has changed vastly since I came to Toronto in 1976. That's what you call real upward mobility.

Don't understand people's love for ugly skyscrapers. New York built some beautiful skyscrapers 100 years ago. Now, there is no such thing. Just glass and concrete. A tall skyline does not make a city beautiful. Just ask Paris or Lisbon.

Different people have different opinions. I've heard Superman's Metropolis was based off Toronto's old skyline, but now Toronto's beginning to look like Krypton - a crystal city.

TagusMan - I agree 100% and Toronto is the worst. 97% of the buildings are simple glass boxes or rectangles with zero architectural interest and built as cheaply as possible to maximize profits. I find it laughable that they want to highlight Toronto as surpassing Chicago. I dont care what the absolute number of buildings is, Chicago's skyline is far more classy than Toronto's. but I agree, the best cities in the world are not built of skyscrapers. I'm living in Guadalajara Mexico now. similar Metro population to Toronto, has maybe 1/10th as many skyscrapers but double the population density and is infinitely more lively.

what are you talking about, europe looks like it was caught in a time warp and got stuck in medieval times. I like museums but I just don't want to live in one.

There's no way "the One" will be completed this year - hopefully by the end of 2023, but even that might be ambitious given how slow it's going up right now. Oh, and Mirvish-Gehry is now known as "Forma".

My partner and i alternate our weekends between homes in Niagara Falls and Leaside, Toronto. My commute takes me along the Gardiner Expressway and the Don Valley Parkway, essentially forming a half-loop around downtown. Ive been making the trip for fifteen years. The transformation of the lower downtown-lakeshore section of the city during this time has been utterly profound. If i did not witness the progression myself, I would believe the change to be unimaginable, from a dollar standpoint, as well as a logistical one. It seems that every two weeks brings another tall building to prominence along my drive. Used to be that the "city" didn't become dense until one was past the CNE grounds, heading east....and abruptly ending past York. Now, the density begins at the Humber Crescent in Etobicoke and doesn't end until one is headed north on the DVP until just south of the Bayview exit. The growth has been unbelievable!
