You mean what most ppl do when phrasing what someone said?? There’s nothing interesting about that.. just about everybody changes the tone of their voice to differentiate who is talking when telling a story.. do you live under a rock????
@@TheMrBMH Are you even a Steelers fan or just a terrible internet troll? Take your BS elsewhere...look at the thumbs up on that comment and the replies agreeing with it. Grow up
Thats is the results of God given talent mixed with hard work and dedication. The preparation is what can separate the good from the great. When it comes to the safety position, Troy is the epitome.
Knuckles means how the offensive line will tip the play heavy pressure on the knuckles means run lite pressure means pass its paying attention to detail
As a Bengals fan I hated troy just cause he played for the Steelers he was the worst headache you could have as a Bengals fan in that era now he alright
If you’re in cover 3 and reading knuckles 5-7 yards deep and blitzing on your own regard leaving your boys hanging, I’d hate to see you at a poker table… HOFer and taking money
The knuckles of lineman getting ready to block can a lot of times tell if it’s going to be a run or a pass because of the amount of pressure put on them. Meaning that if there’s less pressure on the knuckles you could assume a lineman is getting ready to fall back in pass defense or leaning forward to run block. Hope that could help.
@@Munozd00dtell ‘‘em what they need to know!!!!! After high school I played flag went from safety to lineman after blitzing 1x … prob had more pics from line as safety…. For the life of me I couldn’t get teammates to pick up on the lineman… they made me look so much better than them for reason only they may know…
Ed wasn't just a baiter. He was extremely talented... his football IQ was higher than most, and had done enough film study to disguise coverage to get a turnover at any time. You're not listening to this Man saying that TP was freelancing?!?! I wanna Blitz when I ain't supposed to and my man is wide open and RC gotta go tackle him.
when id listen to RC talk post game i could tell that he was a great speaker. very well spoken and had his wits to him. i absolutely knew that he at least deserved a job in sports media, and strongly felt that he was going to land a job. And i'm happy and grateful for Ryan that he did cause he absolutely deserves it. I know that when he first started off he said some silly shit, possibly trying to make a name or headlines for himself or maybe he just honestly felt the way he did about situation XYZ even though it was a hot topic. But RC has came into his own and i'm 100% happy for the man. By the way I think that Troy was going to say that when you look at the knuckles you can see what the linemen were going to do depending on if the blood was squeezed out of the knuckles or not. If the knuckles were white then chances are the linemen were going to be run blocking, if they were red with blood in them Then they were leaning backwards putting all their body weight into their legs and getting ready to pass block.
Ima Giants fan and i loved Brian Dawkins. Played with passion rarely ever seen. He would give a soul snatching hit and say bible verses when the dude was on the ground about to pass out
My best friend is Kendrell Bell. I was at the facility with him in the training room and he introduced me to Troy. Troy says to me “Hi. I’m Troy Polumalu” and shook my hand. He was so humble and polite. I was star struck and forgot to get a picture with him. Great guy.
One thing people don't remember is Troy could do the special things he did because he knew RC had his back and could hold it down. RC is highly underrated and overshadowed by Troy. Troy is my favorite player of all time nothing but love and respect but RC gets overlooked a lot!
He was alot better than Ike Taylor but Ryan played a good 3 years past his prime and hurt the team too. Wish these guys would just hang em up when they are done. Meanwhile James Harrison was still a beast and the team was pushing him out
This is all facts! Troy is Mt. Rushmore as far as NFL safeties! RC however I would say is an elite safety and Troy 100% trusted him. Troy, RC, Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, Brian Dawkins and my guy Bob Sanders were the best of the best back then! Damn I miss that era!
im pretty sure troy made ryan clark look a lot better then ryan clark did troy... no was an all-time HoF safety the other was an average-slightly above average corner, safety cleans up the corners mistakes not the other way around.
@@isaiahstone4689 when the line put weight on his hands the knuckles change color which usually means run. less weight usually mean pass because the lineman has to get back to pass protect so they don't put all their weight forward.

I always said of Troy when it came to the way he played and his style to his position, that he is a man of exquisite passion. And I've always referred to RC when it comes to his style of play, he's a human slingshot.
I’m a Pittsburgh guy, RC is one of my favorites he’s one of the pieces that truly made that defense great. Troy was absolutely incredible but a lot of that is owed to RC.
I will say when I played d line I used the knuckle trick on pulling gards they alway sit back off there fingers when there getting ready to pull you can tell in ankles too even if they think they aren’t selling they usually are I rarely had any pulling plays to my side and if they did they immediately stoped that mess
How many times did you get blown up by a chop block? Former dt myself that "knuckle" trick helped me crash pulling plays but if it a chop block pass I would go flying 🤣
@@akeemtayron it happened but I was real fast off the ball and If they were good to jump at my knees I was good to knee them as hard as I could in there ribs lol
Like Kobe payed attention to the details of his opponent like how many seconds he holds or how many dribbles does he take before he moves left or right! The devil is in the details!👍🏾🤷🏽♂️
Greats all say it's little things like pressure of the knuckles may mean he's in run block or the outside foot positioned to go back may mean pass protect. Then take advantage of your advantages.
RC and Troy was a great time for steelers fans the 2 of them great friends much respect between them plus they had the defense mastermind with Dick LeBeau
My favorite was seeing the guard in the backfield slightly. Knowing that the tackle was going to crash down, the TE cracking me and the guard pulling. I use to love juking the TE block got an easy pile up my chopping the guard knees on the pull to case the rb to bound wider to a defense that should be in backside pursuit. If paying attention. Many opponents will tip their hand on what’s about to happen
I ONCE HEARD THAT SAME BS ABOUT THE KNUCKLES IN HIGH SCHOOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I WAS LIKE YALL FN RIGHT..SURE ENOUGH..IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE Oline splits, KNUCKLES & formation..you'll have the Tap down ..All you gotta do is preform...#RED8 #LLCTYSC
All these people talking about Troy did what he did because of Ryan Clark covered for him. Nawl Troy made RC people. What's the excuse for RC career before he got on the Steelers 😂.
To UncleSmiley96: Being a female I love the game but never understood what was being described in this REPLY SECTION. I really learned a lot! There’s so much I don’t understand. I keep reading & asking questions. Miss my two brothers that passed away unexpectedly. Both great players and knew how to explain things to me. I need some more guys like you! From Diane
Not tryna bring race into everything but different races play football differently and for the most part rely on different attributes Black American players rely on athleticism for the most part White Americans have a more cerebral approach Pacific Islanders have very good instincts
That’s probably something he learned from in a linebacker room, O lineman knuckles are a natural run pass indicators for DLineman and linebackers. Heavy on knucles = run, light on knuckles = pass.
Last year, when all the players were fit, we kept saying “If United had a true #9 we’d be challenging for the title” this year we’ve be hammered with injuries. At what point does critical thinking come into play?
If you have a good film team and you actually study the film there’s a 75% you will recognize 1-3 of the other teams plays as soon as you see the formation.
I know EXACTLY what he's talking about. I'm a nuclear engineer, and I met this guy that was so smart that one time I asked him a question and he was just thinking and he told me I know the answer but I'm thinking about it how you just be thinking so I can best explain to you where your logic misled you
I saw him playing live i was impressed he flew all over the field and had those instincts. Troy definitely didn't win every time though if he guessed wrong but was fast and athletic enough to catch up. Plus the coach trusted him more. If you make amazing plays 70 percent of the time get burned 30 percent. The difference is Polamulu on his great plays made them worth it.
If their knuckles are turned forward then it’s more than likely a run play. If their knuckles are more-so leaning back then it’s a pass play. Polamalu paid attention to little details like that
Troy was on a level football intelligence wise I've NEVER seen another player have and he was hella athletic= best defensive player Steelers ever had and top 10-15 NFL player ever
😂 Anyone else pick up on that part where he said Troy man be wide open and RC has to tackle him. Talking about he wanna learn how to blitz and get a sack when he not suppose to and everyone loves him. Bro sounded a tad bit salty but at the same time respect Troy. Troy a legend and legende do legendary things.
