This is something I would’ve told to my younger self! I cannot imagine how many experiences and people I missed out on because I was trying so hard “to not be like everybody else“. There are tons of things that I like that other people don’t like and vice versa because everybody’s different and everybody has different interest, but it does not make you less than or lame to like something that a lot of people like. Usually there’s a reason why so many people like it.

You are talking about me. I’m sitting with equipment I bought for almost two years, lights, different microphones etc etc. The need to be different is truly crippling. I know this with me. I grew my Facebook and they’re all waiting for my RU-vid Videos. Yet I have everything even created a room to be my studio.

I stopped creating videos, in fact I only created one this year because the truth is I hated myself and hated how I looked and felt I was not pretty enough and that no one would want to listen to me. For a long time, I had people tell me to get dolled up for my videos and show my body in order for me to get noticed on RU-vid but that’s not my personality and for a long time, I was going down the trap and now I’m authentically me. As an actor/closeted comic, I definitely felt that, "everyone is doing it", especially as someone that didn't grow up with RU-vid. But, that with my "no one's going to watch shorts, skits, or indie stand-up!?" It's been killing it me. And I once & for all, want to overcome it as a performer! This video made something click in my brain. Every time you mentioned something gnawing at you, or the little inkling to do something - I have had both of those for awhile. I’m sure it will not surprise anyone on this platform that I’ve been thinking of doing RU-vid, and it feels so prideful to say, but it’s because I think I could motivate or inspire people. I’m 40, with teenage boys, I have a full-time job, and I’m getting my undergraduate degree with a bunch of 20 year olds. First of all, you look GORGEOUS! But also, thank you so much for getting to point where you didn’t listen to all of the reasons why NOT to start this channel. I am quite new here but I appreciate you and your insight so much. I recently watched a video where you spoke about basically having to keep our promises to ourselves since we get to a point where we can get so used to letting ourselves down/letting ourselves get away with excuses that it becomes our normal and BOY! Were you talking to ME!!! Piggybacking off of the work that I’ve been doing since that video, this one is also one that I REALLY needed to see. No one in this world gets in my way more than I do and it’s crazy realising how, after truly understanding and recognising years worth of patterns, everything I want is honestly so attainable. I’ve gotten so used to giving myself a day off, which becomes a week off, which becomes MONTHS off of whatever it is I try to encourage myself into doing that even when I REALLY want to get into consistently showing up for myself it’s abundantly harder. I’ve been showing up for myself more now though and as difficult as it is to unlearn these patterns, I’m grateful that I’m seeing a difference little-by-little which in turn goes a long way in encouraging me even more. I believe I’m supposed to be a software engineer. I’ve always been so good with remembering number sequences and I love working working in teams.
