Clingan is going to be awesome at the next level. I've seen that dude hit 15 plus threes in a row in warmups. He's got a good stroke, will be able to stretch the floor and will play awesome defense. I want to see the Spurs take him and put him and Wemby together.

I'm an old timer Husky fan and I'm basking in the glory of this Hurley regime. While doing so, I've sought out all of the sites that consider themselves the "place to be for Husky fans" but none of them stack up to you. I love your content, the guests you bring on and the insight you deliver. Keep up the good work...but please stop yawning...it can be contagious!

If Karaban comes back, they have a really deep roster. So many of the talking heads out there don't realize how much talent they still have on the team outside of what they brought in through the portal.

MZ is laying it out perfectly- just getting the “best” guys in the rankings doesn’t mean you’re going to build a team with chemistry that buys into Hurley, Moore, Young and Murray are trying to accomplish. This is why the staff is selective and wants to get their type of guys. It’s obviously working- the results speak for themselves.

What should really scare the NCAA is if UCONN puta it together next year with these Sophomores and Freshman, with a couple seniors, they could be looking at 4 in a row!

So Uconn will return 6-7 national championship players, bring in a great recruiting class and a couple key transfers. Sounds great to me. I'd love to have seen Apostolous stick around, great glue guy, but I get that he wants to actually play in the games

Dude you need to start with the two most important roster players. Samson Johnson and Hassan Diarra were the most impactful offensive and defensive players off the bench. Every time they entered a game UCONN got separation. Stewart and Ball showed potential. They will have opportunity next season. However, they have a lot of work to do to have a more meaningful impact than Diarra and Johnson.
@paulkersey820
@paulkersey820 Месяц назад
The coaches actually have credibility with the players because they are developing guys and giving them an opportunity, not just going into the portal and grabbing the five best guys. Because then how would recruiting work in the future, no one would believe the coaches that they would be coming to Storrs for an opportunity and to grow.

Dan Hurley stated, " we do things the right way." Getting and maintaining loyalty beyond players chasing NIL, which is not synonymous with loyalty to a team. Does this mean a 3-peat, no. However, it does mean you can continue to develop the talent you already have, because the players have bought in.

Tough roster but it's heavy at the 3: Abraham, Ross, Stewart, McNeeley. At the 4 it's light: Karaban (maybe). At the 5: Johnson, Reed, Jr., Singare. I can see Johnson playing the 4 with Reed, Jr. at the 5, but more likely a portal pickup if Karaban gets drafted round 1. At the 1, Nowell, Diarra, Ball. some Maheney. At the 2: Mahaney, and then it's thin. I am really not sure what kind of lineup Hurley is going to go with as from a pure shooter role (like a 2) it's Mahaney or McNeeley (who is a forward), so not chock full of shooting guards. And way too many small forwards.
@DonDizzz

Can I just get all 5 on my Bulls so I can actually stomach watching them
@keviabi
@keviabi Месяц назад
Why did they UCONN prefer Mahaney to Brea? Brea is much bigger and a better shooter.
@LockedOnUConn
@LockedOnUConn Месяц назад
Mahaney is a better player overall, Brea incredibly efficient catch and shoot player, but they were looking for a combo guard. Now I think Brea could be asked to do more but they legitimately had to prepare for Aidan and KNOW he can. And they believe their system can get him to take a leap in his game. Plus they also believe, as do I, he’s a mix of Tristen and Cam, he’s got 2 years of eligibility.. vs 1. So those were compelling enough.

It's great to look at it like not losing last yrs freshman, however losing 5 starters? Replacing them with who? Most importantly, losing a 7'2" guy that'll go top 5 in NBA draft, who and how tall is his replacement? There's where we lose
@LockedOnUConn
@LockedOnUConn Месяц назад
David , you can’t look at it like you’re going to replace a generational UConn talent who is 7 foot 2, they replaced them with someone who is 3 inches shorter who is a better athlete and has positional value. so they lost height they gained versatility.
@dougbloomquist9780
@dougbloomquist9780 Месяц назад
They replaced Adama Sanogo without issue so I’m not worried. UConn can still win without Clingan.
@Zzgeo198zZ
@Zzgeo198zZ Месяц назад
We won with a natty with a 6'9 center 2 years ago so it was never about height. Dan Hurley and Luke Murray play to the strengths of their players really well so i'm not worried who will fill DCs shoes. I am curious what your thoughts are on how we develop defensively knowing Samson is a bit of a liability and Ball showed that he was a bit of a liability too. Glad we got Has back because he is an absolute dog.
@ryanharrison4058
@ryanharrison4058 Месяц назад
First, the chances of winning 3 in a row are super low. It’s been done once in an era that playing 4 years was expected. The fact we even have a shot at 3 is crazy. Just be happy we are where we are. I will be happy if we don’t have another 7 year run of being irrelevant.

UConn alum, and I eat sleep breathe UConn bball but I have to respectfully disagree about clingan's nba potential. With the death of the traditional big man in the nba, range is important and I just don't see any desire to shoot outside the paint and not a whole lot of touch in general. Clingan is obviously tall but he's not very quick or athletic. He doesn't have the lateral movement necessary to impact the game defensively like he does at the college level. He doesn't have the best hands either, I've seen him fumble the ball and trip over himself way too many times. His lack of touch, quickness, stamina, and range will make him a marginal player at absolute best imo. If Adama doesn't get any minutes, who's a much better offensive player and much more nimble on his feet, I just don't see it for Donovan unfortunately. Love the channel btw

Reed is not very good and Johnson is to weak they will get beaten at the boards because Reed has bad hands and no shot.... they will need to hit a lot of threes to three-peat was hoping Brea was coming but I will defer to Hurley that the St Marys player fits UCONN system better ???

Tim no disrespect , but we all will defer to Hurley and co on Reed, Samson and bringing in Mahaney over Brea. Don’t understand how anyone can make a comment about Tarris Reed not being very good, when he hasn’t played a minute in a Husky uniform
