Repairing it was the only option. The CV-22 mods for the MH special forces operations made it too heavy for CH-47 or CH-53E Since it was in New Mexico,not a foreign country, there was no need to destroy it or write it off

The ch46 had problems as did the apache. The F14 had problems also.

In time the operational and mechanical experience builts up. Do this and don't do that. The failure rate will drop slowly and steadily during service. Concerning field repair without hangar, sun radiation, heat and dust were my enemies. Never let drop a bolt or a tool.

the repair of that Osprey was on US land therefore was not in any danger nor was it or the repair crew facing any hostility. Looks like New Mexico so yah, not so dramatic as the story implies is it. Kinda lame to make it look that way I would say. Not cool!!! And, quite deceiving!!!

First off the CH - 46 sea knight is NOT a tilt rotor, it is a tandem rotor helicopter. Second don’t ever refer to aircraft maintenance techs as “maintainers” , it’s like calling pilots bus drivers….Some officer (probably Air Force) in charge of cute names came up with this term & I find it very insulting…..

Mmmm.....this is a very expensive program!!! Maintenance time and cost very high!!! Not sure if this is really productive???!
