Fun fact about how velcro was discovered : George De Mestral got the idea for Velcro® from cockleburs caught in his clothes and his dog's fur. During a walk in the woods in 1948, Swiss engineer and outdoorsman de Mestral caught hundreds of burrs in his clothes and his dog's fur. He wondered how they attached themselves so tenaciously.

Amazing use for velcro: on fur material, you know how it can matte up or get messed up from the dryer? Brush it with the scratchy part of Velcro and its like new again. Works on fur blankets coats etc.
It's a Swiss invention and it stands for VELours/CROchets which means Velvet/hooks and it is exactly what it is , the hooks parts grab on the velvet which makes it stick.
Fun Fact: In case you don’t know, Velcro was inspired by a natural plant in North America, that is called “Cenchrus spinifex” or “grass bur”. You probably already know what I’m talking about but if you don’t. Grass bur’s are basically natural grown balls of very tough Velcro that sprout in dry and narrow bushes, they stick to most clothing and animal fur, very nasty plants.
