How was it made? Constructing Balenciaga's minimalist ensemble

Working with students from the London College of Fashion, we've created digital animations to show how three of Cristóbal Balenciaga's iconic designs were constructed. A virtuoso example of pattern-cutting, the main body of this dress is cut from a single piece of fabric joined at the centre back. There are no side seams. The neck of the cape is painstakingly pieced to ensure a soft line which stands away from the body.
'Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion' is on display at the V&A from 27 May 2017 until 18 February 2018

This is another video where the V & A stinted on images of the finished product. Having seen the components up close, I also want to see the finished product up close.
