How was Splatoon created? 

Splatoon is the crazy idea that once you seen it, you will be wondering, "Why didnt anyone come up with this before? This is awesome!"

What an awesome and well produced video. I'm always astonished how I found a rather small channel but that is still delivering such high quality content on a regular basis. However, I have noticed that your thumbnails are rather minimalistic and at not eye-catching, so I'd recommend you to invest more time in making them ;)

My ideas for Splatoon 3: -Deathmatch like mode. -Soccer mode. -Choosing which color you want to be. -Save data backup support. -More customization. -3 maps that cycle for one hour. -Gambling. -Special data for having Splatoon 2(If Splatoon 3 comes on Switch). -More levels in story mode. -Secret unlockable levels in story mode. -A mode where you play as an Octoling and Inklings are the villains(I think of calling them Inktarians). -More colors. -Cooler maps. -Petting Judd. -A home for you that you could customize with rooms, furniture and layout. -Splitscreen multiplayer(Competitioms and Story Mode co op). -Better voice chat. -Salmon Run being open 24/7. -An actual timer like Animal Crossing. -A new species. -Cooler ideas for storymode stages. -Challenging storymode stages(Not as hard as Octo Expansion). -More cuteness. Those are all my ideas.

Fun fact, the first design for the squid character is actually used in the games as a logo

Subscribed recently. I'm always interested in video game history and you have really nice and quick videos that explain the essentials. I hope your channel grows quickly, you deserve it. I was just wondering if you watched the GDC talk about Splatoon since it was not listed as a source. I'm not sure if it had any additional information that wasn't covered here but it had some video of the tofu prototype. I recommend watching it if you haven't already. Keep up the good work!

The original character of the player (the squid people) was actually implemented into the game, not as a skin, just in the lobby, where you'd see it running on screen in splatoon 2.

I bought my wii U for splattoon, I didn't even know it was an online game so I felt dumb when I realized my internet couldn't run it HAHAHA but then I changed it so I could play and damn.. IT WAS ADDICTIVE for a new IP, on a failed console like the wii u, they managed to sell more than 2 millions copies, that's incredible. so glad it sold ton more on switch! I bought Splatoon 2 at launch along with the switch, still playing until now

Other game developers: let's make an online multiplayer first/third person shooting game with lots of loot boxes. Nintendo: Let's make a third-person shoot em up game but with squids and ink.

The art style is an issue that many people do dismiss the game. I've made a fair few COD and Battlefield enthusist friends who did dismiss it play it and they were quickly hooked. This is a problem Nintendo has across the board with their art style. The problem is people like me and anyone who sees this video and reads this, finds the art style very appealing. For me the art styles Nintendo uses are timeless. Gamecube games did not look better than PS2 games upon release but they do now because they have aged much better.
