You gotta admire Miyamoto’s persistence here. You know, for some reason, he must have really liked the idea, and kept with it, not giving up hope, for decades. And ended up making something equally as iconic as the best selling home console Nintendo ever made.

Fast forward to the Nintendo Switch which seems to be hiding the concept of Miis more than it ever did. This angers my profile icon.

(5:00) No, complicated characters does not mean large file sizes. Because all a character is in these games are what settings are chosen, so the file size is only determined by the amount of options chosen. So reduce the amount of options, and the file size shrinks. When you transfer a Mii to the remote, you aren't transferring the 3D models. You are only transferring the settings of that Mii (and that it is a Mii). For example, Xbox avatars are more detailed, for sure, but they lack any option of position, size, rotation for the facial features, meaning less options, meaning a potential smaller file size than a Mii character. ... again, you aren't transferring the 3D models, only each individual value in the settings of that character.

When I got my Wii U, I was very disappointed to find they removed the ability to transfer Miis via Wiimotes from the old Wii. Also, the process of transferring data from the Wii to Wii U was a one-way, destructive process, meaning I’d lose everything on the old console. Additionally, that option was a very bad idea, because some of my most played Wii games would lose the ability to be played with GameCube controllers (Smash Bros. Brawl & Mario Kart Wii, specifically.) In the end, I had to borrow a cousin’s 3DS (which I didn’t have) to transfer my 70 Miis from my Wii to his 3DS and then to my Wii U. Why, Nintendo, why? It’s no wonder the Wii U did so poorly in the market.

Watching this video reminded me that it can sometimes take 20 years for an idea to come to fruition. Persevere and don't give up on your ideas!!

I believe the faces in Talent Studio were eventually used in Face Raider for the 3DS. At least the facial animations look very similar.

It's funny how Miyamoto's colleagues questioned his idea, when Funny Face came out on DOS in 1990, which is basically a simplistic version of "Make someone you know".

Listened to this one with earbuds in and none of the SFX bothered me. I only noticed the music being a bit loud during one part as well. Seems like you've found a sweet spot for balancing audio.
