He is the greatest fast bowler of all time. Those who say marshal this and that ..he was no where near Wasim .. U can compare Marshal with Waqar.. not with wasim .
No one denies his talent but google the findings of Justice Qayuum report. The judge later said he knew Akram was involved in match fixing but protected him to not malign the image of Pakistan cricket. Some other cricketers bore the brunt of the punishment
My HERO, but I too have to state that for me he's not clean. I love the player he was and what so much more he could have achieved but something in my heart feels that he's got a very, very dark side!
1996 world cup not playing quater finals raises many questions......1999 world cup won toss then selected to bat first on pitch with lots of moisture raises many questions With his talent would have won 2 more world cup and respect for a lifetime.
@@cresent1well first of all you need to understand only one player cannot fix a game. Secondly if he sat out of the qf what were the other 11 blokes doing? You cannot fix a game by just sitting out, someone else might win and ruin your fixing. Thirdly, opting to bat first is no proof of fixing. Pakistan were poor chasers back then and as a captain he could argue that his decision was based on that and considering the fact that pakistan had the strongest bowling line up, he felt they would be able to defend the total.
Just a legend. When I was a kid, i LOVED watching Wasim bowl in any game and the thing that stuck with me the most back then was how focussed he was, and also how much he loved celebrating a wicket. Down the pitch, arms out, screaming...so good! Currently reading his book now and its a great read for any cricket lover.
Wasim fixed matches, plain and simple. Once the great Imran Khan left the scene, Akram took control of the rabble and dabbled on selling out his country. Salim Malik was made the fall guy but Akram was just as guilty. Great bowler, magical at times, but could have achieved way more as captain. Definitely a stain on his legacy
Justice Qayyum report proves Akram is the biggest match fixer in history of Pakistan cricket. Too bad that he never got punished. Salim Malik and Atta-ur-Rehman were made scapegoats.
Lahore High Court found him and other players involved in match fixing. His colleagues like Saleem Malik, Sarfraz Nawaz, Aqib Javed, Aamir Sohail etc accused him of the same. Shamelessly he’s still defending his wrong doings which destroyed pak cricket. Had he been punished Aamir Asif and Salman Butt were not involved in spot fixing.
That's true. But the real rot lies in the system which allows mafias and their associates to roam freely around these cricketers. I am sure it would be hard to say no to Dawood if he is saying something and has put a lot of money on.
He is a fixer he is not our legend. PCB along with Pakistani players are involved in match fixing, 1996 QF, 1999 Bangladesh vs pakistan, 1999 India vs pakistan, 1999 final, 2011 semifinal, and there are 100s of matches got fixed by PCB. Icc itself is involved in fixing.
Wasim Akram was a great bowler, but he was a match fixer and should have been punished like Azharuddin, Salim Malik and Cronje. There is no debate about it. Read the Justice Qayyum report for yourselves and hear why Qayyum in his own words exonerated Akram, jjust because he was a fan!
He is the biggest fixer in the history of Cricket and this is the utter truth, not a tag. Wasim Akram could have won two more World Cups fot Pakistan but he chose money over country's pride. Had he been banned or convicted, there would have been no Amir Butt Asif controversy. Its sad how opinionated he is on every channel while being such a disgrace to the sport itself. Shame!
Wasim Akram along with Saleem Malik were biggest match fixer along with Mohd. Azharuddin...Wasim's close friend and brother had close contact with bookie.
He's a fixer. Even his dad was kidnapped by the bookies over some disagreement. One of his closet friend was a bookie and used to fix matches. Wasim has admit his frienship with that guy and says he doesn't know he was a bookie. Pretty difficult to believe that you don't know one of your closet friend was a bookie who used to fix matches in a sport that YOU played in Even after publishing the Qayuum report in 2000, Justice Qayuum let him go with just a fine. Later in 2005 Justic Qayuum admitted that he was biased in Wasim's favour since he was a fan of his and believed he was an absolute legend of the game and his legacy shouldn't be tarnished. But he was guilty and too big a player to be convicted
The funniest part is the Qayyum Commission was set up at the instance of one Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar. This was his way of punishing Pakistani players who had fixed a game against New Zealand for a rival upstart from India. Guess which two people testified that they had received a call from Dawood before a match? Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram. The latter actually named Dawood Ibrahim as the man who told him and Javed that the match they were about to play had already been fixed by some of their players. Javed’s testimony was along similar lines but he did not name Dawood, only saying this was a powerful person.
@@8pulkit that was the match vs England not new zealand, before the 99 world cup, and u r right dawood wanted the entire match fixing nexus to be under his control so the guys fixing under other bookies punters in Bombay were punished meanwhile guys who did it under dawood's umbrella were kept safe and called clean, it's a joke,
Whether you were involved or not but please admit there was match fixing in the era you played in Wasim. There is absolutely no doubt about it !! Secondly rather than blaming today's generation convince your own colleagues like Rashid Latif, Amir Sohail, Aqib etc.. about the suspicious matches. Sit with them in a common talk show and resolve this issue forever. This book will do you no benefit.
It’s a massive shame, that when ever you talk about Wasim Akram, one of the best left arm fast bowlers of all time! You also come across match fixing, 1999 World Cup final, 1996 quater final vs India! Just couple of matches, of the many in question. 1999 vs Ban W/C. Like it not Wasim, you will always be linked with cricket match fixing! And personally, I think he’s guilty!
I have never seen a campaign against the wasim Akram that he is match fixer on social media but when he stated that social media generation call Him a match fixer after that every social media person is calling him a match fixer it's all his fault and his behavior us really disgusting towards Pakistanis he thinks Pakistani People are nothing who made him a star but he his attitude like he owns whole Pakistan
Wasim Akram was the father of match fixing! The mother was Mohd. Azharuddin. The father and mother were close friends and even shared women with each other 😂
Clearly a match fixer. No doubt was one of the greatest fast bowlers to have played the game but the heart break he caused to millions of Pakistanis both in 1996 and 1999 overshadows his achievements. So in one simple word I’d always remember as a match fixer and NOT as the greatest fast bowler. No matter how many hooks he writes etc etc. if he is so concerned about his children he should have thought about it BEFORE selling his country and playing with emotions of millions for I don’t know a few million dollars i guess.
Wasnt he injured in 1996 in the game against India? Also 1999 was against unbeatable Aussie side. I am not sure why you are blaming him for the two losses.
Khurram Bashir whether he was a match fixer or not, he will be answerable to that when he goes down 6 feet under. What I do not understand is how this accusations will help you in any form or shape beside few guys giving your comment thumbs up. I can assure you one thing 100%that your comment & accusations will def get you in hot water when it's your time to go under 6 feet as you will be answerable to damaging someone's honor & reputation. Good luck!
One more thing blame him as much as you want for 1996 & 1999 but every Pakistani knows that without his major contribution in 1992, Pakistan would be without any world cup till now.
Biggest haarami you can ever come across sold his country numerous times just for money ! Met him 5 yrs ago in DXB Dubai international Airport I confronted him about these allegations the kameena dalaah called for security he was guilty his look on his face said it all !! Great bowler yes but image will forever be tarnished due to his involvement in High Level Match Fixing

This man Akram was a match fixer and he is a match fixer , he published books as much as he could but he couldn't wash his crime. Every teammate of his team always says on tv he was the main guy who fixed matches for pakistan
@@rishabhsingh1066 that is all rubbish... I have read that... Even if wasim akram was a match fixer, it is unfair to even call that a report... That is all Claptrap... Funny how non-pakistani fans appreciate him more. If he truly was a match fixer he would've got caught when playing for Lancashire. Shame about the witch hunt.
Spectacular bowler but a convicted match fixer and destroyed the team for personal gain. Despite all the supposedly great players, could not win another world cup.
