Also: be careful when using a power washer or the like, especially if your watch's WR is 30m or less. *And* if the watch is more than 10 years old, you might want to have the sells checked, regardless of its "stated* WR.

If I can’t shower with/feel comfortable possibly damaging in the shower a daily-wear watch… I probably don’t want it.
@ChronometerCheck
@ChronometerCheck Год назад
A good option is to stick with affordables then, since you can always get a new one if something happens
@kozygeorg
@kozygeorg Год назад
It's not the water it's the steam that can get in and damage the watch. So ideally you wouldn't shower in any watch except maybe the gshock
@shaynesimmonstattoo
@shaynesimmonstattoo Год назад
@@kozygeorg you’re correct! And if I’m scared that the steam might damage the watch I’m, inevitably, going to wear in the shower… it’s not a watch that’s going in my daily watch rotation. It’ll be one that gets reserved for some other special occasion. My everyday watches, however, go everywhere I do while I’m wearing them.

@@kozygeorgthat doesn’t make sense to me. How can water not enter but steam can. The molecule size is still the same.
@kozygeorg
@kozygeorg Год назад
@@JitsKamps it's not about the molecule size, it's about the heat expanding and contracting the gasket making it so that eventually some steam can enter and ruin your movement

The increase in pressure due to movement is not very large, but certainly exists. Moving at a swimming velocity only increases the pressure by a small amount.

@PaulDoodes
@PaulDoodes Год назад
Ok. So why are the units ALL referring to either depth of water (ft/M) or pressure (atmospheres or bar)? 30M was clearly meant to signify just that. 30 meters underwater. Otherwise they’d be referred to A,B,C,D ratings or similar.
@ChronometerCheck
@ChronometerCheck Год назад
That would make the most logical sense, but a 30m water resistant watch isn't always reliably water resistant in up to 30 meters of water depth.
