My sister always wore dress pants, a short puff sleeved tweed blazer, and a GELLED slicked bun to tame her curly hair, baby blue eyeshadow up to her thin eyebrows. She said to dress business casual to prep for success. Class of '05
@@ilycarti Back then, she was considered "preppy chola". These days, I'll wear a slick bun, light fresh makeup and thin hoops to work and get called "home girl" instead of "clean girl" lmaooo
I feel this. I’m just a wee bit older…class of ‘91. I totally agree with your sister! Dress for the job you want, not the job you have. It helps you to get into the right mindset! BTW, thank you for this fun, light hearted content! We need more! ♥️
That's still all I wear- boots in winter, and flip flops the rest of the year, lol. I am 40, idgaf what anyone thinks anymore, haha, and it's awesome...
Right or we never thought to use a hand mirror to see the back, I always had a super wavy section at the crown of my head where I missed since my hair was thick and I’d miss a layer lol
The girl I sat in front of in geometry was having a conversation with her friend and literally said "it's okay if the back of your hair isn't straight because no one looks at the back of your head" as I was sitting directly behind her, looking at the back of her head.
properly straightening only the front of your hair and rushing the back, using foundation like a moisturizer and applying it with only hands, clumpy ass mascara and tight lining, no eyeshadow, and WAYYY too much perfume. ah, the good ol days 😭
@@eldritchabomination Going along your waterline with eyeliner, essentially as close eyeliner to your actual eye as possible and usually didnt involve blending or much if any eyeliner on the actual skin
@purplelove010 I'll get over it, I'd rather be covered than exposed...see a lot of bitches wearing leggings as pants(they aren't) and it's never flattering...not even if you are skinny and small like me...but what's worse is seeing obese bitches wearing very little like no, no one wants to see that...they act like there ain't shit for big bitches to wear but that's not true my mother was obese and she dressed very nicely, didn't have to wear gigantic shit either...i guess too many people just dont know how to dress for their body. Me...I want to be covered as much as possible and I want baggy because I hate tight. I don't need to show anything to feel comfortable and confident, I certainly don't want people to look at me. I don't need attention.
We shouldn’t envy you were made fearfully and wonderfully by Yahweh and ofc it’s a sudden thing to say am not going to force it upon you but I believe that you were made fearfully and wonderfully the fearful part is when your fearful of Yahweh so you don’t do evil or sin to be fearful of losing his presence or going to a place that no one should go and essentially made for us
Haha. I grew up in Minnesota. Graduated in 2002. And I can attest I wore my Swim team sweatshirt wayyyyy too much. Then douse yourself in bath and body works cherry blossom and your good to go!
@@charlesbrooks5003 a family member's friend in the navy got back from deployment and when we met he told me exactly what it was like as a guy walking through highschool and only smelling Secret Garden, my favorite too.
I'm from California and back then the early 2000s had a variety of styles. Skaters, Emos, Goths, Metal, Computer Nerd Gamers, Hip Hop and Gang Bangers. And yes, there is a massive difference between the way people who just listen to Hip Hop and the way they dress and the average Gang Banger's style in California, especially where I'm from in SoCal. What a great time to be alive!
I feel like back in 2000 girls were more confident to have fun in dressing up and wearing whatever they wanted and had the courage to break "fashion-rules".
I didn't know anything about fashion, so I just wore simple comfy clothes. We were not really online yet back then so most people did not know anything about fashion. No influencers etc.
I've watched like 5 of your videos, and I'm convinced you're a timetraveler stuck in the early 2000s and trying to make the best of it. These are too accurate to be from pure memory
Okay thank you for bringing this up, because this is my thoughts exactly. I was a teen in the early 2000 and that’s exactly what i did! From the smelling the shirt and everything. Oh wait though….. I didn’t have that fancy hair straightener, I used the clothes iron on my hair on the floor on a towel 😂
@@nightmeowonelmstreet215 back then everyone used to. Some girls would use an oven mitt. I kneel on my knees and place my forehead on the ground, brushing ha hair “ upside down” towards my knees. Then I would follow be brush with the iron. Sometimes it would be hard to get the hair at the back. Then my morning routine with my mom was I would lay down on my back and she would crush my hair “ up” and iron it, then I would lay on my side ect…
Hoodies and flip-flops together were EVERYTHING. This was so basic, but sooooo sexy somehow. I think it was the "I'm not trying" attitude. This girl was actually cool, she didn't care what you thought. She looked hot, and she could not be more comfortable. No fillers, no lash extensions, and no instagram. I don't think this new gen understands how deep this video is. ❤
Omg watching mtv in the morning! My bff would come over and we IRONED our hair bc our hair was still thick and my straightener which was also a crimper sucked😂😂😂 Baby pink maybeline shimmer eyeshadow and some blue eyeliner 🤣🤣🤣
7 y old me when I found out my mom was the popular girl in high school: Im ThE dAuGhTeR oF tHe PoPuLaR GiRl ✨👁🫦👁✨ Edit: GOD DAMN 2.3K LIKES!? also idk if my mom was lying or not but I did see a photo of with her friend group, I swear she’s the complete opposite of me, I’m known as the background character who no one give af about-
Had to be ripped to not mess up the messy bun when putting them on as we only put on the hoodie when heading out lol Also, the hoodie is almost always borrowed from a friend or boyfriend. If someone gave you their hoodie, you were in their good graces and already knew as soon as it went on you that they’d probably never see it again.
Bro, you got called a metrosexual back then for being a dude that didn't smell like shit. I promise you it sucked so much more back in the day. It's easy to romanticize the past when you see videos like this
I didn't even grow up in the eras you make videos for. I just find you genuinely funny and think it's interesting to see what nostalgia is like for the cohort in the age bracket above mine.
I would wake to the sound of the school bus pulling up, so my mornings were even more ridiculous. I used to finish getting dressed on the school bus 🤣 One morning I decided to wet my hair and put conditioner through it on the way out the door, except it wasn't conditioner it was shampoo, the more I rubbed it during the bus trip, the worse the soap suds got 😅 Ah those were the days
I was born in 1999 and I'm really glad that I lived my whole childhood in 2000s. I started to remember things at age 4. I'll always remember blue skies in those sunny days, everything seemed chill and simpler, what a life to be always keeping in mind.
Facts!! Definitely a belt as well; as long as it was in the back on the side or in front on the side (supposedly HAD to match my shoes). I was too lazy to get up to do my swoop bangs as well as my hair scrunch. So a messy bun/swoop bang ruled my quick mornings.
I remember watching my sister get ready for HS in 2009-2010 and thinking to myself "two tanktops, a long sleeve shirt, a t-shirt, is she wearing 5 shirts? why does she have on so many layers!?" 😭🤣
