You guys are delightful! My partner and I are moving from Dallas, Texas, to the city of Querétaro in December. In fact, we're going for a two-week visit the first of April. We're retired teachers. We're very excited about our new life in Mexico! My partner Jorge is originally from Puebla, México, and I'm from Dallas. We're celebrating our 30th anniversary on November 15th of this year. ¡Hasta luego! Joseph Quillian (Pepe en español) :-)

Glad to hear you were monetized so quickly! I work for an online entrepreneur who doesn't care where I work as long as I'm working. I worked part-time or full-time customer service jobs from home since 2003. They used to be so strict about being in the US. Glad to hear that has loosened up. Thanks for sharing!

I'm a single mom who is doing well, but I've been fearful/nervous with the move having a 12yr old daughter. You've confirmed what I was thinking, especially about income and a healthy amount to move with. I'm already on my way, but will revisit my goals to strengthen them. Keep the smiles, and info coming. Hello guys! I’m making the plan to move to Mexico specifically to Edomex next year 2023. I’m currently in the process of getting my dual citizenship through my parents since they’re both Mexican. I already have a home that I own over there where I don’t have to pay rent at all, only utility bills and other expenses like food internet etc. All I need is a remote job and I’ll be pretty much set. I’m getting laid off my job as a Testing site specialist by the end of December of this year. I do have money saved up to live off for while, but in the meantime I want to look for a remote job. Can you guys make a video of where I can look for entry level remote jobs or on how David was able to look for his customer serviced based job? Or does anyone here in the comments know? Thank You so much!

Hey guys! Quick question about the rental fees: once you've paid the equivalent of 4 months rent up front, when is the next rent payment due? The month after you move in and thereafter, or can you "live out" the deposit(s)? Thanks so much for your amazing content!

Ok, guys. So, how much money is required to actually live there? I've heard you have to have at least $5000 in a bank account, show your bank statements from the U.S. to have at least that much for the past 12 months to be able to come and live. Also, is it true that you cannot flush TP down the toilet? What about the smell of your home? Some on YT said it's like living near an open sewer which I don't think I could acclimate to. What do you guys pay in rent? I'm single and would like to live near the beach for no more than $400-500 month on SS. BTW, did you get some grease for your hair? It works wonders and eliminates the need for expensive hair care products:)
@TravelWTravis
@TravelWTravis 3 года назад
How much money you’ll need definitely just depends on your budget, lifestyle, etc. As far as the TP, you can’t flush it down the toilet, but we’ve had a bidet for years ($40 off Amazon) which has saved us (and the planet) a ton of $$ and is just generally way more hygienic than using dry paper anyway 🙃

Sure! I just got a job in the States before and then moved with my equipment (and made sure we had a fast internet connection where we ended up). Leaning toward Merida, HOWEVER, the hesitation is about the heat and the mosquitoes. Just how humid does it get? I like being outside and walking a lot. Watching you guys sitting in your A/Ced apartment does not give a sense of what is going on outside walking around. Is there a time of year when the temps are lower and less mosquitoes?
@TravelWTravis
@TravelWTravis 3 года назад
Yep, it's hot + humid (today it's 90 out). The winter are the cooler months but the summer gets brutal, so if you're looking for a temperate climate, this definitely isn't it! The mosquitos weren't too bad when we arrived in November, but we've heard they come out in full force in the hot + rainy summer months.
@carterxcash
@carterxcash 3 года назад
Habing lived here for 7 years and change, the mosquito issue is really dependent on where you live, how humid you keep your place and clean your garden. I have screens on all my window and not a mosquito in sight. The heat is bad but the amazing evenings are so worth it. I would not recommend hiking around town mid day for more than 20 minutes but surprisingly enough your body gets climatized and you get used to it.

Hi, I'm a new subscriber in Orange County. I'd like to move to Mexico and set up a home studio to do voice overs. Should I bring all equipment needed with me? I also have an extensive record/album collection I'd like to bring. Did you bring all your electronics with you?

Hey Beverly! We'd definitely recommend bringing your electronics with you, as they tend to be pricier here than in the States. We did order the foam padding here though (via Mexican Amazon) which was affordable and more convenient than bringing all that with us!

Where do you go to withdraw money with affordable rates? Is it better to withdraw all your money at once and the use it during the month?

Any bank's ATMs get you the same rate, because the Schwab debit card uses Visa's exchange rate. You just have to make sure to "decline" the bank's offered exchange rate at the ATM (which is typically much worse). There's usually a daily limit, so we take out cash whenever the exchange rate is best (it fluctuates daily so keep an eye on it) and make sure we have enough ready for when rent/bills are due!

May I ask, did you find the customer service job through a traditional US-based job site like Indeed, or through other means? I am hoping I can avoid ever going back to that kind of gig (been there, done that...), but it's nice to know the option is there for remote work if need be.

Yep, it was actually through Indeed!

You guys are awesome! Keep the vids coming!! Just wondering (because I’m about to be in the same boat), did you find the job on Indeed without subscribing or did you actually sign up with them? Thanks.

@@carolyncritz2799 He had a profile with them, but didn't have to pay anything if that's what you mean? (Not sure that's even possible on Indeed though?)

Hi do you think I can easily pick up an online job ? I’m moving to Mexico in July and need some form of income for it meanwhile
@TravelWTravis
@TravelWTravis 3 года назад
Not sure, it all depends on your experience, skills, etc. But the one thing we can say is definitely get one before you leave! They’re much harder to come by once you’re out of the country!
