Nice video. This gave a clear picture about the real life in Finland and India. Last 2 weeks I was infected by Covid and admitted in Hospital in mumbai for 10 days. Now recovered fully and still at home quarantine for 1 week. All the while I never missed any of your videos. I'm originally from Payyanur and spent my younger days in Payyanur. I'm really happy to know that you have a nice and peaceful experience in my hometown. After retirement from my present job, i may settle down in Payyanur. Even though both of you may have better ideas about the facilities available in and around Payyanur, you may definitely ask for local informations whenever you need.
Oh I'm really sorry to hear about your covid infection! Glad that you have fully recovered 🙏 Payyanur is a lovely place for retirement. I hope your dream of settling back in your hometown comes true ☺️
In my home the financial independence has taken to new heights. In all my more then 30 year of earnings, I honestly gave all my salary to my wife (a house wife) and then I asked all the money for expenses on me from her. It gave me many benefits like (1) She made more savings beyond my imagination. (2) Managed finances more efficiently then me. (3) All my relatives had questioned my decision (Giving all money to my wife), but I was relatively much relaxed in comparison to them (I like to mention that some of my relatives were much high earners then me)
That's a very good decision. That shows how much you trust your wife. I also follow this from last 7-8 years now.. much relaxed n stress free. My wife maintains finance very well...
That is such a lovely thing to do and I hope your family and friends have been able to see how your example has served your relationship and family! 😍 so commendable! I personally don’t like dealing with money, but for the sake of equal partnership and my own financial independence want to be involved in all our financial decision making, and know what’s happening with our money all the time. But otherwise I pretty much trust Vinod to manage all things related.
It's very beautiful how you're unfolding different aspects of your life and your views on different topics with RU-vid fam and this very thing is what keeps us glued to your vlogs. Every single time you come up with a whole different, well thought upon aspect which makes everyone connect to it. Keep it up!❤️ And would be really waiting for savings vlog as coming from finance background I consider savings an important part of our lives but I'd definitely want to hear your opinions about it!😊
Thank you so much for your kind words, Mayuri ☺️ This video was almost 45 minutes long initially but had to trim it down shorter. There is so much I could talk about! I'll definitely be covering such topics regularly
Indian Women, specially women from the Middle-Class family often manage her family's finances. But the concept of 50-50 is wonderful. It really helps by equally sharing the responsibilities. Moreover, when I was in Kolkata City, it was the cheapest Metro in India.
Hallo Johanna. Really interesting to know how you people are managing your financial life in India and your detailed explanation on it. I would like to know what you people are thinking about the education of your daughter? Since education in Finland is free and much more creative and better than in India, have you people made comparisons between Indian and Finland? We are also a mixed couple, looking forward to suggestions on this aspect :)
Your Vlogs are very explaining. This video will be a textbook for couples on how to control their monthly expenses and plan their finance by considering various factors of our daily life, when they are going to settle somewhere. Thank You.
My daughter and SIL have been together for 16 years....married for 11 with 2 kids. They don't even have a joint banking account. They split EVERYTHING right down the middle. Both have good jobs. (And I babysit when they work. That was before covid though). You have to hear them, "You owe me $30! Pay up!" Hey, it works for them!
As a woman, i love that, but who is doing the cooking and cleaning and children's homework, their baths and food and getting them dressed, etc. That is the main thing. I have always maintained that no woman should be a single parent/house worker while being married to another human.
Thanks for the video. 🌹🌹🌹. India definately affordable. I personally dont like shopping and where clothes is concerned i rather buy no name brands because these are outfits that last. Would like to see your baby shopping haul and nursery set if you gonna have one
I’ve had to unfortunately buy some new things for myself due to the pregnancy and all my old clothes getting too small. And a few other items also. And my family has sent me some gifts from Finland too! Hope to get a video about this out maybe next week 😊 and I definitely plan on sharing more about setting up the nursery and shopping or making things for the baby later too!
Johanna, in India it is the duty of the earning member to shoulder the responsibility of making payment for expenses incurred for the entire family members. If both husband and wife or partners are earning members then they share the expenses together and it is never proportionate but according to the demands of the situation. Generally, it is the male member who bear the expenses.
The cost of living in different countries must be determined by the average salary of each country and living expenses. I am sure, the comparison between Indian and Finnish could have an enormous differences both in terms of, standard living and average monthly income. The expenses are pretty much the same both in Finland and in Italy except for the fact that a film ticket costs 7,50(instead of 18) euros, in Italy. Having said that, I truly doubt an average Indian middle class family(4 members) could afford the same your monthly expenses in India...since the salary could be extremely low.
Median salary is a good indicator of earnings of a country. In India it's around ₹29,000/month while in Finland its €3,000 (₹2,64,000)/month before taxes.
How interesting this video is, even though it was released when baby Annika wasn't born yet, I assume you are having now more items to deal with, thank you, I always appreciate your videos
Please consider giving your maid a raise...it's very kind of you to provide her family accomodation but a salary below 5k is nothing....you could just go out finish 5k without doing much...great video❤️
One has too be rich by heart ❤️I even don't bother about finances , if we have love for each other , respect for eachother , this is real diamond , I even don't understand why husband wife fight for materialistic things , love is good enough ,❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏
A very nice and informative video as usual. I enjoyed watching it. I only wish to add that vegetarian food is more peace-inducing: it induces peace of mind because there is no pain and suffering inflicted on harmless creatures in preparing the food. This is only a suggestion, of course. Keep up your good work. You are very lucky that you have such a nice and caring husband. Yesh Prabhu, Bushkill, Pennsylvania.
@@nmo3148 Hi n mo. As a matter of fact, yes, I do. I talk about the importance and advantages of eating vegetarian food so much with all my meat eating friends and neighbors that I am sometimes called Mr. Vegetarian. It is the hormones that are present in the blood and flesh of slaughtered animals that cause the most harm to humans; they have toxic and carcinogenic effect on humans . A healthy human body produces all the hormones it needs; consuming hormones from outside sources such as animal flesh increases the levels of hormones in human blood so much that it disturbs not only the body but also the mind. Thank you for your comment. Yesh Prabhu
Oh and every Tuesday movie tickets are for only $5.00 So we treat ourselves for dinner and movie almost every Tuesday but haven’t been since February 😒
Enlightening and entertaining. Like your approach to financial information. Money certainly greases the wheels in our lives.Even after marriage common expenses are shared 50:50, quite unique by Indian customs. Indian men pay for everything after before and after marriage. Indian girls are accustomed to using her money as her money and his money as our money, just like Russian girls. Before marriage Dad's money is her money, and her money is all her's.
Yes this sharing of expenses often seems to shock people. I think most Nordic countries are very advanced when it comes to promoting financial independence. It’s even looked down on if a woman depends on the man’s money. Back in the day I was on a date with a Polish guy who got seriously offended when I accidentally paid both of our drinks after I’d insisted I wanted to pay my own. I’m uncomfortable if a man pays anything for me, because there are no free lunches so to say. It most often comes with conditions
Like the Nordic countries ideas on a girl's financial independence. Probably financial independence brings out the true nature of a person😉 Maybe out of all the types of independence emotional,physical,energy...... financial independence maybe the most important part say 80% of a girl's independence 😊
Very clear explanation. Actually comparison is very interesting but I think you have a good experience of finances. Eat fresh fruits and lead a good health. Take care your baby eating all the nutritious . ( Joke for a fun). Stay blessed.
I'm a 🇲🇾 Indian who has high compassion on HUMAN SOUL, please do consider to pay your maid (pt/ft) more than what you supposed to.... May God bless you
I’m not sure how much more I have to say about finances, but I definitely want to make more vlogs about topics like this! I see this as a part of my vlogs about our love story, why we decided to stay in India, my passport/visa vlogs etc ☺️ planning on topics about savings, love & arranged marriages, divorce, family values and so on! Please do suggest if you have particular interests 🙏
Hey Johanna, I would be interested in knowing what your source of income is. Do you do only RU-vid or do you have a side job in India ? Thanks and keep up with your nice channel!
We both are medical professionals at a hospital in Melbourne. He is punjab born whereas I was born here in Australia. I think Indian men leave all the family financials to their wives which isn’t common in Aussies. Work literally the same number of hours but my husband is too busy to maintain the finances. He literally doesn’t know the password of his salary bank card. Unfortunately, I have to get the cash out for his monthly expenditure. I don’t like this extra burden but you got to except your loved ones the way they are as appose to changing them.
According to me , there appears a trust deficit from your side. In your subconscious, you are insecure , and fear or anticipate a time when you split , you don't want any regrets. You seem to have started your life on distrust. As far as I understant indian marriages , are based on 100% trust. Your marraige seems to resolve around money. This I call cultural difference. To be independant you can both contribute money to a single pool , but to have a "my expence" and "your expence" devide , simply sucks. Good luck to your hubby.
Nice vlog I m also staying in Kerala n yes, u r right abt affordable living here. Also since u hv mentioned in ur previous vlogs tht u absolutely love Kerala food, I want u to try tapioca pork..u might like it too🙂
What an amazing way to tell about ur expenditure in a month, well described and a beautiful comparison between Finland and India. And you ur managing ur monthly out go brilliantly...but surprise to know about ur yearly car tax and rent in Finland, it's 62000 per month of just a little room....it's more than our total income here in India...if you think Indian expenses as a common Indian people it will look more than our income...but ur idea of making chart for every single expenditure is nice. Everything is good but I have a question --- How much 💰 you secretly hiding and save from @Vinod Sir in ur secret 🏦 account like Rice container or some other places like a common Indian wife. 😁😆. And finally I want to say that the way you start the vlog with saying "Hello My Friend" touches our 💕 and souls, create a special connection with you 🇫🇮💛🇮🇳. A request please make a video on University studies and curriculum comparison vlog of India & Finland and analogies ma'am @Johanna and sir @Vinod knowledge. Thank you ma'am for such an amazing information on Income, Expenditure and Saving vlog..🙏👌👍💐
Thank you so much for your lovely words Aman! 🙏 😊 I'd made a video comparing Finnish and Indian education systems. Have you watched that? But I would love to make a video on higher education too in the future. Thanks for the suggestion 🙂 And I loved the idea about hiding money from Vinod 😂😂. Since I don't have an Indian bank account yet, maybe I'll start using rice jars too!
@@JohannaNorth I watched ur previous vlog on the same day of ur posting... I want to know about higher education....I think u should open ur bank account here in India...
@@amanaditya3720 I have tried to open an account but being a foreigner, it's not so easy. I first have to get an Aadhar card, and a PAN card, and an OCI card... :-/
Recently started seeing your Vlogs, and they are very interesting. Have stayed in Switzerland for a year and USA for 3 years, so can understand your point of financial independence. One question, How do you manage to earn when you are in India staying in a small place ?
Hi Johanna. Do you eat rice? If so, I would recommend a traditional red rice named "Poongar" Rice. They are very good for pregnant women and aids in normal delivery. It is also very good for the baby. There are many recipe available, for making sweets, snacks and porridge using the red rice. Sharing this info., as it will be helpful to you.
Looks very healthy and nutritious! Sometimes we need such dishes when we need to cleanse our palate and give our tummy something light and soulful. Two thumps up from me! Would like to know more dishes from the Finland 🇫🇮 And yes before I forget, 5 thumbs up 👍 for all your videos ☺️
Healthcare is free in Finland. In India, it is very affordable, especially the cost of medicines. I think it might be the cheapest in the world here :)
Oh, I'm a very independent women especially in my thinking. But I'm also a huge part indian and dude, really, you're making your wife pay at a restaurant even?. Pagal he kya?. Youre treating her badly. Financial independence is what I dont need to fight for. Generations did that long ago. Work. Yes. Lazy? No. But my husband treats me like gold. And you should do the same. You're a disgrace
Oh my gosh I didn't know people in west do this well marriage is not agreement or a deal it doesn't matter who spends when a man spends too much other a women well my mother and father both work but never seen someone doing 50- 50 very weird concept
@Johanna, Very beautifully explained. Very very useful information for people who are planning to move to India and especially to Kerala. Just cant imagine how affordable India is . I am really planning to relocate to India soon . Enjoy your stay in India !
We dont think about salaries as per annum in Finland, but per month. Salaries can vary greatly for different professions, but I’d say for a full time job (40hrs/week) salaries start from 1600€ per month upwards. average pay is something like 2500-3000€

Hi Johanna, glad to see you. Very detailed and educational views of your expenses, well done. Your house looks nice and cozy, I enjoyed your brilliant calculations and thank you for expressing your daily life in India. God bless and stay safe.
Remarkable, you both seem so tuned. If you have got your indian citizenship, you may as well start investing long-term it's much better than savings accounts or fixed deposits.
I write for a Finnish newspaper. And also do some translation gigs for a sports media company occasionally. RU-vid does pay too, I'd posted a video about it earlier 🙏
I think it's the tropical environment, heat and humidity which makes regularly cleaning essential here. In colder climates things don't rot that easily, and microbes, insects and bugs don't flourish well in sub zero temperatures 🙂 Also, Indian cooking methods are different from the West. It's quite common to have frozen food or baked items there, so maybe that's a factor too
Hello, only one question, have you heard the name of the poet Lakhmichand??Please ask this question to your husband, your father in law or your mother in law. Writing this because he is very famous in rajasthan and village areas. Please try to get some information about him.
Are you living in Payyanur, which falls in the north belt of Kerala kannur district?WOW you are in the best region of Kerala and it’s like one of the best country Finland meeting the best region of Kerala Payyanur which is even written in many travel descriptions by many foreign tourists since ancient times ,people are very sincere over here, generous, very friendly ,warm welcomes any outsiders making us feel homely ,this place and district is very famous for traditions ,historical temples, even poor family will have good education qualification but humble people and simple life style ,north Kerala famous for sports like volley ball athletics etc ,if you looking for the best Kerala cuisine food ,northern districts of Kerala is the best and right place to explore which is popular world over for the coastal cuisine and pure vegetarian food equally - Calicut kannur kasargod Wayanad Palakkad Thrissur Ernakulam districts especially ,Kerala is rich in Hindu culture but still progressive and accommodating of all foreign religion,Thaiyam an art form of north Kerala is again world famous, temple drum music chendamelam performed equally by men and women is also very popular . There are many beautiful beaches in around itself and in many parts of kannur kasargod n Calicut that you will feel you are in Goa , clean beaches for now !! .You are lucky that you got such a big house for such a small amount, generally maids n rent n grocery are costly in Kerala, because all r educated n thus it’s hard to get labourers for agriculture n due to this % of cultivation is reduced and import of grocery increased and similarly maids are also very tuff to get in Kerala and if you get also maid monthly charge will be rs 12,000 normally.Payyanur and north Kerala is culturally rich in arts classical dance and music festival which happens in academic places school n colleges state level annually which no other state has this importance given not just for degrees but for arts as well , many of the reputed people hail from this place. Mountain Trekking and river safari equally available in the same landscape which is a unique speciality of Kerala ,astrologers also famous. The only negative about north Kerala districts is political party which favours communist government, in the past few years this party has lost its dignity from how it was 30 years back, love ji hadi conversion is another worst thing happening from many years in these districts. Other which ways our stay in north Kerala was awesome n remarkable than any other place down south, by the way both of you are indeed made for each other and such understanding lifemates, probably Joanna was an Indian last birth ..with black hair and brow make over Joanna would look a typical Haryana or North Indian .
There is a concept of family in Indian homes and not everything is about splitting money... when a husband works and takes care of home and his family he cannot measure that in terms of money and the same the woman taking care of home n kids cannot be measured.. i have never seen my dad even once telling my mom or making anyone in family feel that he earns for the family.. its so natural... at the same time in modern times women are encouraged to be career oriented and work..but it should not be ever about calculations and money etc... the family as a whole how best it can function should be the objective.. ...
Where are you living in usa .I am also from.Haryana like your husband .Youcancall me your husband sister .I am also from farmers family now i live in usa.
