Any Meeting before marriage should be done in presence of a third person. It's not permissible to contact a person who you are considering for marriage on your own. You definitely can talk to him & ask him questions but the meeting is to be arranged by the wali of the Woman/Girl and the meeting is to be done in presence of a third person. You can't directly meet or contact a suitor.
