Very nice blade. I still prefer the same knife my grandparents and great grandparents used. An American Old Hickory Butcher knife. Very good job butchering that wild hog. I was raised butchering deer and animals since childhood and you did a good job.

A friend of the hunter said that the knife should not be too sharp so as not to cut himself and used a homemade knife made from a saw that cuts the rails. By the time I took out my knife, he had already processed half of the boar.)

Great breakdown. Great shot placement! This obviously ain't your first rodeo, but for everyone watching wearing gloves is important when cleaning wild hogs.

Simply awesome! That concave portion of the blade to work around joint bones is genius! Being a boar hunter myself, I use a disposeble blade box cutter for that and a regular Buck 679 as a dedicated skinner (yeah, I favor stainless)! Now, I'm gonna get one like yours. One last thing... To avoid the scat issue, I make a roll of broom brush (or any other long needle leaf plant) and stuff it through the pigs butt hole, that avoids problems during transport and processing. Thanks for sharing! 👍

I've done a lot of lab dissections and a lot of fish but never had to butcher a large mammal. I really enjoyed your approach and confident efficiency. It reminded me of descriptions of the 18th century frontiersmen. Very nice videography btw.

Not sure what's your plan with the skin. We generally burn the hair down. When I was a kid we covered the pig in hay as and put it on fire. These days we use gas burners. After the hair burned down scrape it and wash it with warm water. It gets squeaky clean in no time. Easier to process and you can eat the skin as well. There are some good eating on pig feet, ear and skin.

I forged my own hog knives. Whole reason I got into it. They look weird to other people but they are purpose built. I have a right and a left single bevel with a flat and the handles are bent so my knuckles clear. It's hard to explain but after a dozen attempts tuned in what works for me and not necessarily ideal for somebody else. Except my father in law. He wanted them bad and always helps so I let him keep them for when we need them. But made him make it clear in his Will those belong to me! I have a stupid amount of time on it....but was fun and learned a lot. I don't want to build another pair and wood blocks. They are crazy sharp and a light touch can result in stitches so they have a wood block rest.

Have a knife picked up mid-80s for $32 that was good for field dressing numerous deer while on Kodiak. Left (transferred out) in 92 and Haven't bothered deer hunting since. Has "Yukon Hunter" etched into blade & Essen GE stamped on base of blade. Somewhat thick, stainless, blade. A nice, basic, blade pattern. Anyone else have a handy little working blade they are fond of?

Not done it on a hog, but with deer, elk, and pronghorn, take the fore leg meat off the bone, season to your liking, wrap in foil and roast it SLOWLY and long. The sinew and tendons will melt. Makes a great meal and not at all chewy.
