Bondo on internal doors ? How about lipping those doors in this way those edges won't crack when you slamit.Nice way to arrange the doors if you put them even closer like nearly edge to edge 90° ,you don't need to worry about overspraying the other side of the door. Good work 👍
Thank you James, I appreciate the comment! I am with you, I have always been a Laquer man, but this stuff is waterborne and it dries really strong and hard. I have been impressed with it so far, its almost like a hardwood floor sealer, super durable and hard, ill keep working on it and let you know, but so far so good 👍
Here in the Northeast we don't have Southwest Builders. What other SW product would you say it's equivalent to? How hard does it end up drying? Like a latex Proclassic or so?
Question - I used oil based primer / paint and even used Penetrol paint additive to paint a door made of I guess MDF and it dried very matty and I wound up putting a lot of sanding time into it to help it look better but the grooves are hard to get all of the matty spots out. I was thinking about a paint sprayer. Do paint sprayers that can handle oil base leave oil based primer/paint very flat on MDF doors or does it still leave a matty finish that requires sanding?
Was this a first coat? The first coat can often become matte due to porousness in the MDF or wood. Usually, you want to prime first and seal the pores then paint. Penetrol will add sheen to the finish. Prime and 2 coats for a nice finish. Today's water-born trim paints are a little easier to use and are sandable (Ben Moore, Sherwin Wiliams, Behr).
No probably not..I feel I have more control of my fan location for overlaps without it, so I probably just took it off for the final...may have been clogging up..lol..I can't really remember to be honest, but usually if I can reach all sides I will shoot final with just the gun! Thank you for the comment 👍🙏
A 310 tip is kind of small for man doors, no? I prefer a 415, or 511. But everyones different. I just feel 310s are for smaller piecs like trim/baseboard
That is Always a concern, honestly on these ones, these doors were pre primed mdf, and they have a certain fuzz to them, not all doors have these but I find that these mdf pressboard doors never really lay completely flat...when we go thin to win, its usually worse so we try to build and sand between coats. thanks for the comment 👍 🙏
Yes we really like the 395s... they are a little heavier, but the gallons per minute are more than the 390 so incase you get in a pinch and need to do a bigger job like walls, siding or something bigger, it can work really good for that too. I also have a couple 390s and they work really well, we just keep those running for trim packs, doors, facia, and smaller tip projects ect...thanks for the comment 👍🙏
@@PaintBoss yes , I have the 495 that has been solid for walls ceilings siding etc.. just got a 395 specifically to use only on trim doors and fine finish peices etc.. I will say that for me the 495 has been the best overall sprayer I've owned.. ive had 3 titans and some other units and nothing compares to the quality and longevity of the graco ( at least in my experience) as a fellow painter , I appreciate your work and the time and effort you put into your videos. Maybe someday I won't be so lazy and I'll make some videos showing the world how we paint..
So sorry for the delay...I have been fighting the covid and have finally come back up for air! I can't remember on this one, but usually my go to tip for doors is a 310 fine finish or sometimes with bigger 8ft door packs ill do a 412. Thanks so much for the comment`
@@PaintBoss i have just recovered myself. Was diagnosed positive on the 6-th, now all good. I didnt realy had any symptons. Stay safe my friand. I am looking forward to new videos of yours💪
