Little Women is *chef's kiss*! It got me into classics. I highly recommend the film adaptation afterwards, there's already been a bunch but the latest one by Gerwig has great warm depiction and overall treatment. Both made me cry :')
Watching you react to the Little Women quotes made me laugh so hard. It has been over a decade since I read the book but I do remember Louisa May Alcott coming in hard with her words.
@emmiereads when are you going to do video review of next book of vampire chronicles of Ann Rice vampire lestat if you have not already if you have witch video is it?
Emma is spoiling us this week 😊 absolutely loving it Also, since you're wondering if anyone is still on sporcle: I am still on sporcle, I am addicted to geography quizzes 🌏
I’ve been having the worst time recently with my panic disorder and your constant updates have taken my mind off it all, even for 20/30 mins (+ the wonderful new books I get to add to my wish list). Thank you, Emma 🩷
My fave thing about Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery and Potluck is the running gag where they forget Emily Dickinson is there because she was such a recluse 😅 My English and German lit degree is almost 15 years old and I still was able to answer a lot of these questions, I am so impressed with myself 😱
BTW i Luisa May Allcott was a pretty fierce woman in her own right, being an abolutionist and feminist, and Little Women and the sequels aside she also wrote some lesser known Gorhic-ish novels that talked about women amd society (basically, the kind of books that Jo March writes to make a living in Little Women). And it's fitting, given how Gothic novels have from the beginning been a feminist genre.
Honestly I'd love to do this again with you Em, such fun. Oh and Little Women is wonderful, when you read it you'll need to follow it up with Good Wives. Sometimes they come together.
Love you videos, they’re really comforting and relaxing and inspire me to read more, especially when I’m in reading slumps. Also I would wholeheartedly recommend Faulkner. I’ve only read The Sound and the Fury and As I Lay Dying, but they are both some of my favourite books of all time. Will defo be reading Light in August this year.
This was such a nice, chill video to watch after a stressful work day. Love the idea of doing trivia streams! You could also do literature based personality tests if you feel like it, whenever I'm procrastinating hard I spend hours doing mediocre tests to find out what Austen heroine I am and stuff like that.
Absolutely loved that video. I do love your videos in general actually, but something about this was fun, relaxing, took me back to childhood sneaking the math games on my computer during school lecture, perfect vibes. And now, I want to read Little Women. I have always loved the movie (1994) and thought I didn’t need to read the book, but those quotes just made my heart melt and now I want to join you in this journey!!!!
YES I haven't even started the video but I am so excited for this Edit: Um yes please to the trivia nights and yes please to more trivia videos, this was so fun
this was so fun to guess along with u lmao !! also i was thiking of buying little women earlier this week, this is defo a sign for both of us to read it
This was so much fun!!! And chill ❤ you should definitely start twitch haha I love this variety ✨ I’m always so impressed by your eloquence and how much you know about books but this was amazing! I hope I can get to that level in my own lit field ❤ love u, Emma!!
I loved this video! So much fun playing along with you! I read little woman in my last year of studying and grew instantly attached! I watched the movies afterwards and re read the book, wrote a paper on it. I was obsessed! Defo time to read little women! 😍 oh my gosh, yes! Please let us join you for trivia night! 🥳🤩
3 videos this week?? best week ever omfg??? it's been pretty tough for me lately so this 100% warms my heart !! love u emma🫶🏻 (p.s we need more videos like this AND PLEASE READ LITTLE WOMEN, YES IT IS YOUR SIGN !!)
Loved your reaction to Little Women. I LOVE Little Women (and Good Wifes, they kinda go hand-in-hand imo, so if you are getting the one, I recommen getting the other). This was a good fun vid :D
no because Little Women is literally the backbone of my personality, i read it when i was very young and kept re-reading it (and its sequels) until I nearly knew it by heart, it forged me as a person and as a reader. You GOT to read and would love it, I feel like every young woman should
Hi, Emma, I loved the trivia games, and do hope you offer more in the future. Thank you for your wonderful videos, I always keep pen and paper nearby for your recommendations. Best of luck with your exams! 💕💕☕☕
This was a lot of fun, I'd really love to see more videos like this! I read Slaughter House 5 by Kurt Vonnegut and absolutely adored it! Now I'm reading all of his books in publication order (I was inspired to do so with your journey with Murakami). I'm only on the 3rd book and I've found a couple more favorites.
I read William Faulkner as a required reading last year for my 1st year of my MA English Literature syllabus. I also was in no mood for Light in August, but the way he uses stream of consciousness in a polyphonic form made me reluctantly recognise his special way painting worlds. Since then, I've read The Bear and A Rose for Emily-two short stories of his that I consider top quality. I guess I'm pulled in to his writing by the way he sees community relations and I'm sure I'll find more valuable insights in the rest of his works.
Love your videos and your humor. I'm just starting my BA in English to teach one dsy, and I'm a 40 year old dude raising 2 kids lol. Never too late. Definitely love the videos, and the suggestions on goodreads. Thank you for the laughs and inspiration.
Another great series was Steve Allen's : MEETING OF THE MINDS. Where famous characters in history get together for Dinner and discuss problems, literature, issues of the day, philosophy, etc. So good. Steve Allen & his wife portrayed a couple of characters.
Would love to hear your thoughts on Little Women! Such a beautifully written piece of classic lit. When you have the chance, take some time to read it. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed ❤
Such a fun video Emma! I HIGHLY recommend Slaughterhouse Five. Carolyn was raving about it in one of her vlogs and I had it on my bookshelf and decided to pick it up and I was immediately hooked. What are your thoughts on Cat's Cradle? Hope you and Calcifer are having a wonderful day❤
Yes. Absolutely read Titus Andronicus, but maybe not if you need a mental health break 😅 Trivia would be SO fun. The SuperCarlinBrothers host trivia nights and they live stream on RU-vid and use Kahoot. But ik Kahoot limits the number of people you can have so they were having issues with that
