It was interesting and you gave such a good information! 🖤 Btw is it possible to go for a Master's degree in fashion in London if I'm not so good at sewing or any textile things?... because I'm currently doing my bachelor's degree and I kinda like to do Masters in abroad and get some exposure.. and i think I'm kinda good at sketching and drawing( check out @fashionartsree in Instagram to see my sketches if you are interested) but I feel like I'm not so good at sewing and textile merchandising( I just made 2 kids wear garments for my first year practicals) so is it fine to move to abroad if I'm not good at some sorta skills or can you let me know what kinda skills I 'must have' if I want to go for Master's in fashion???

I dont understand why you just didnt do a master? It seems like FAFSA would cover it.

i don't if you'll see this, but i truly want to be a fashion designer and i'm a freshman right now what would you suggest doing at my age right now. i know i need to learn how to sew i know how to draw fashion illustrations but i truly don't know how to start after high school ends and what i need (degrees, tuition, etc.) how do i start in my career? should i start studying the fashion industry? i don't know which fashion college to pick i'm either deciding one in new york or out of country like you i just wonder if it's too expensive? i jus worry if i pick one it wont lead me to the direction i want to go if you have any suggestions please tell me! i'm really confused and have no clue where to start i love fashion and art combined this career would be a dream for me to achieve in life. i want to move to paris and start my career for fashion designing but i wonder if it'll be too expensive. i hope you can help me. xx

Hi hun, it seems like you're really excited and passionate about pursuing a career in fashion. To be honest you can start developing your skills RIGHT NOW. Spend time drawing, studying designers, learning everything you can learn for FREE. After you finish high school, if you're still as passionate about it then consider studying fashion in university. It's not required to go to uni to be a fashion designer, but I believe if you choose a reputable university then it can be an advantage when you want to start working in the industry. Which is why I came to London to study fashion instead of doing it in Florida, for example. My advice would be to take time developing your fashion skills while you're in highschool, and if you are still passionate about it by you junior year, then start to look up really great, reputable colleges for studying fashion. xx

Your videos are helping me out in motivating myself to pursue a career, that my mom might not like, because it's not 100% a stable career choice (getting a job at a company, or an inernship, ect.) So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, thanks.

I wish you good luck. I've been to Europe for a week in Toulouse, France. I went to visit a college friend several years later. Living in another country or continent is also interesting to me. I thought about taking the plunge. How to achieve a tier 4 visa is also an interest. Never been to the UK.

I am currently at a bit of an impasse. I'm soon finishing up being the Artist in Residence at a five-star hotel in my city, but after this I'm not sure how I can top having a corporate benefactor where I live. I'd like to relocate to where there's a better climate for high fashion, after nearly a year of being exposed to wealthy people, I've realized just because rich people are around me doesn't mean they're my demographic. I've run my own business for the past 12 years and have lots of experience organizing fashion shows, being the creative director for fashion editorials, being a stylist on top of designing and making all of the clothing...but I have no formal education. I also feel the quality of my work has surpassed the quality of the people around me participating in photoshoots and fashion shows. I'm of course not loving the idea of having to get rid of so many things in order to move to a better career environment, but it's just the reality of the situation.

Sometimes big reward comes with big risk. You sound really established and for that reason you likely don’t need any formal training. Perhaps only need new connections in new places. I’m wishing you all the best with sorting out your next steps x

Hey, first of all I really admire your positivity and you’re awesome, never stop doing what you love :) and also in September I’ll be starting uni in London with graphic design and I’m really excited for everything that’s waiting for me and I can’t wait to move but also I’m kinda scared because I’ll be moving in another country all by my one, and the scariest part is it will be the start of the rest of my life, am I gonna make friends, will I be able to get used to the uni lifestyle, will I really enjoy my time without getting depressed or smt...just give me some advice :) because I’m one of the most excited people leaving for uni but I’m also scared of what’s waiting for me...
@CNICOLE

Hi Alexa, aw you’re so sweet, that’s really so nice of you to say. There’s soo much advice I could give you on this. Especially because I had the same fears before moving here (Although I think the excitement outweighed the fear at first). My biggest advice is to trust the process. You WILL have some bad days and you will have also some AMAZING days. The experience will be unlike anything you’ve ever done before and you will inspire others in ways you never expected. So in the moments where you may doubt yourself or worry about depression, just remember that it’s all part of the process and having those emotions is perfectly normal. Also, don’t be afraid to connect and open up to people because having someone to talk to about those worries is very beneficial too.

Hi! I am a freshman in college currently attending a junior college and getting an associates degree in art, but after that I want to move to London to pursue a degree and a career in fashion. So I was wondering if you could answer some of questions I had, if you have the time and they are not too personal. What school are you currently attending? Besides the school you are studying at is there other programs/schools in London you would suggest? How were you able to fiance this move? How do you obtain a Tier 4 visa?
@CNICOLE
@CNICOLE 6 лет назад
Hi Phoebe.. the financial and visa aspect of things is quite long to explain. I’m thinking I’ll do a video on it but I would recommend reading the pages related to Tier 4 visa on gov.uk to start. As for uni, I go to Middlesex University London. I would highly recommend it for studying fashion, especially textiles since it’s top rated for that course. I would also recommend University of Arts London and Central St Martins as top rated unis in London for fashion. There’s a lot of different fashion related degrees but I’m partial to fashion textiles 😉
