We were taught in school in the 70's that the next global ice age is almost here and we needed to prepare immediately before the world freezes.

Everytime I hear someone talk about ice melting on the planet flooding it makes me think that they believe the only way the water will rise it is if the ice melts. The shifting of the tectonic plates the shallowing of the ocean floor would raise levels. The sky is falling, the sea is rising, the Chinese and Russians are attacking, and here I am without any Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

This wouldn't be as simply as raising water levels on coast lines. The geological rebound effect from releasing the weight of ice caps pressing down upon the earth would have profound influence on magma and tecnitic plates. This would also effect the gulf streams and oceanic river systems.

The problem with presentations like this one is they fail to mention we are currently in a warming interglacial period that began about 11,000 years ago. Which would account for some of that warming.

Melting ice will make the water level drop lower. Put ice cubes in a glass of water and mark the glass where the water level is. Let it melt and then look at the mark and you'll see the water level went down.

how do you tell the difference between tidal variations and global warming / climate change . There are so many things that cause a difference in the sea level at any point around the earth so how can you blame one thing . I remember in 1976 we had a storm that caused a house to fall into the incoming tide and so work was done to stop anymore coastal damage to more homes but if that was now then what is to blame because the problem was fixed back then without any drama .

I have a question if you you put five ice cubes in a glass filled a glass to the very top and then wait until the ice completely melts. The water is actually less full because the ice would take less Space in a liquid form that it doesn’t a solid form, so why doesn’t discount for global ice

As the ice melts into our oceans obviously sea levels rise, but also ice water starts to dilute the salt in our oceans which is extremely important for our marine life and will cause a disfunction in our ocean process and will create more destructive storms in our oceans with hurricanes etc

Beg to differ: a 224' rise in sea levels wouldn't be enough to submerge all of Florida. The highest point in Florida is over 500' above sea level.

How do you measure centimeters in a body of water that is constantly moving has tide levels effected by the gravitational pull from the moon which has varying strength because it is never the same distance from the earth and is tens of thousands of square miles of surface area. 🤷🏼‍♂️.
