I liked the Prestige shop Cold War had, where you got tokens to unlock blueprints and classic emblems as you progressed. Wouldn't mind that feature returning
I think (it was 13 years ago) that Modern Warfare 3 did this as well, I'm pretty sure you could buy icons and stuff from the previous games. That game also showcased your Prestige in the previous games as well, which was cool as hell.
A classic prestige system will really help with the longevity of this game, at least for me personally. It’s what made me want to come back and grind the old cods. Obviously they were better games too, but the prestige system really gave me something to grind for everyday
I want Call of Duty WW2 headquarters back. See everyone is in lobby was really great and seeing people prestige in front of you and having a small plane show was fun too. It would be less annoying now with faster loading times and new consoles
I recently went back to WW2 and prestige to P3 for the first in years and forgot how much fun it was grinding through weapons again, the HQ system was also great walking up to pick your daily and weekly challenges they also gave you much better rewards, weird to think SHG didn't do that again with MW3 then again i guess they didn't have much time.
Give us 10 classes by default and every prestige lets us get another load out. Unlocking 20 would be awesome. If it’s too cluttered they could just do like “tab” over to the other ten classes. Also the prestige tokens r so nice so you at least get one item you want and loved that for like dead silence or a gun I really liked etc
I still remember to permanently unlock AN-94 on BO2, it was one of the last weapons to unlock through levels and I liked it so much I wanted to keep using it, then it became my first gold gun in that game. Good memories
The older prestige and weapon prestige systems made me a significantly better and well rounded BO3 and BO4 player once I had completed everything compared to the recent COD games.
One thing I hope they keep going forward is favorite things, like Attatchments so its at the front and we don’t need to look for them, I also hope they can let us favorite camos as that’s one thing I’ve always found annoying that we cannot do it
@@tylerhammer4561 Yeah that's cause Zombies if left unchecked dishes out the most XP, they were doing that from Cold War times. I don't see the sense in XP capping Multiplayer when Zombies and Warzone gives way more XP

Completely agree with everything you said! The prestige system causes so much more variety in gameplay. It constantly makes me look forward to unlocking certain perks, weapons, wildcards, etc, while at the same time making sure I'm not only using those few. Take dead silence/covert sneakers for instance, I literally always use it on every class, whereas usually that's something that you only unlock very late, so I wouldn't actually be able to use it for a while. The same was the case with wildcards to add extra attachments to weapons. It forced me to not always use my favourite setup with every gun. It also makes the levels meaningful. I still roughly know which level I am in BO3, IW, WW2 and BO4 despite not having played those games for years. Meanwhile I don't even know which level I am in MW3 despite playing it multiple times a week, because it is literally completely irrelevant. And the best thing is that no one is forced to do it, as long as you can unlock everything without prestiging. So there's literally no proper argument against it.
I'm really excited to finally have classic prestige back. Having XP feel like it actually matters again, not being wasted. I agree with your wishlist as well.
Fond, fond memories of the black ops 1 and OG MW3 prestige grinds. Don't know if CoD will ever catch my attention again like those games did, but the return of prestige is a step in the right direction.
It’s long overdue to have more class slots available. I’d like to earn 10 more slots or start with 10 and earn 5 slots through prestige. I hate to delete a class to try another weapon.
I liked how BO3 (not sure if other games had this too) you could apply prestige emblems from older CoD games. It felt rewarding and nostalgic to do that
My worry for Bo6 is that we're going back to 50-70 Weapon Levels and 100 Camo Challenges rather than MUCH superior and less annoying/streamlined MWII/MWIII Camo & Weapon Progression Systems. If they go back to having that many levels per Weapon, that could be a catastrophic no no for a lot of people, myself included. I know it seems obvious that they'd continue that system, but... I just worry they don't wanna do that. I hope i'm wrong.
The way your gun looks in a video game is the least of your concerns buddy. Consider instead: connection, gameplay, balance, etc. Those things actually matter.
@@kilsgb We are allowed to have multiple issues at the same time. I feel the same, although only Vanguard had these crazy 70 level guns, we really don't need the old camo system back. I still get PTSD from having to do insanely stupid challenges (please longshots, I'm begging you, just vanish).
@@kilsgb Uh, this video's entire premise is around Prestige Mode, which is also not the biggest issue, but since that was the idea behind the video, i'm simply voicing my biggest concern about the game. Obviously balance is more important, but that's something we can't change or help or even know if it's good or bad until we play the game. I can know, before launch, that I don't wanna go through 50-70 Weapon Levels and do 100 Camo Challenges per Weapon. I don't need to ever play the game to know, that I hate that old system and don't wanna see it return, and what i'm bringing up is more relevant to the video than Connection, Gameplay or Balance is. On top of that, you don't get to decide what matters to everyone. That matters to me, a Good Connection, Fun Gameplay and Good Weapon Balance matters to both of us, and i'm sure you care about something I don't, but that doesn't give me the right to invalidate what you care about, just cuz I don't agree. I hate SBMM, but if you like it, then you can look forward to it being in the game. Don't tell people what does and doesn't matter, it's different to everyone. Be fair about things.
Since Black Ops 2 Prestiging hasn't impacted your weapon levels and camos, thankfully. I do hope we don't go back to 2019's weapon levels and camo system though. The MWII system is about the only good thing that game did.
Hoping for some special emblems (not prestige related but a new nuke calling card as well). And then would like weapon prestige with kill counter, special camo, or something of the sort.
I sincerely hope that the return of the classic Prestige system is a first sign of a shifting paradigm within Activision as a result of the Microsoft acquisition. To move away from having player engagement dictating every aspect of the game which got us the seasonal levelling. Hopefully a less strict drive for said "engagement" will also trickle down into more relaxed matchmaking in casual modes. We can only hope.
My number one ask for the prestige system is designing unique and memorable prestige icons again. I couldn’t tell you a single prestige icon over the last 5 years but I can rattle off dozens of classic ones.
I think the version of prestige that I liked was like Black Ops 4 and the games like it that allowed you once prestiged, to reset your progress and start fresh by leveling everything again, it's what kept me playing Black Ops 4 Zombies in particular, and I'd love that to return here too.
I'd like to see a season level separate from the battle pass with rewards attached to it as well as this other grind. I like to see the level go up to 400 then try to grind back to and surpass that the next season. I just think it would be good to keep some of the new while bringing the old system back. I also really like unlocking dlc weapons through daily challenges. I hated grinding for days on end At times just to get a weapon. Third is this "gunsmith" system like mw3 or cold war or something I haven't seen. I never played the og cods
I'd definitely like to see Weapon Prestiging come back alongside Player Level Prestiging. Assuming Gold/Platinum/Diamond is your weapon mastery camos, i'd love to see something like Emerald (Prestige 1), Ruby (Prestige 2) and Emerald (Prestige 3) camo for that specific gun as it reach Prestige 1/2/3 for it. Ultimately it's not hugely different to the seasonal prestige camos we just got in MWIII, you're still grinding out a huge amount of exp on a specific gun but I think it's a better way of handling it, along side stuff like being able to put an emblem on or scratch your clan tag into the weapon. In terms of regular prestige: - Permenant Unlock Token for each prestige - New sets of challenges (with exp rewards) that unlock at each level of prestige (helps to reduce friction on the next cycle) - Prestige Shop (+ 1 Key per Prestige completed) to buy Retro Emblems/Calling Cards/Camos

Normal prestige keeps me so much more engaged more than the season ranks. I don’t care about that at alll, but back with the normal prestige’s I actually really enjoyed grinding and ranking up
I personally hope this time there is not perment unlock tokens since compared to before, people meta chase like mad now and they will just unlock the meta guns/perks from the start. compared to before where people wouldn't as much but I know most people will want unlock tokens back
My wishlist for prestige weapons is to tie the mastery camo to the prestige level. Max out the weapon, you get a splash of gold. Prestige it once, more gold is added. Prestige it a second time, completely gold and the next levels of mastery camos open up.
I think Cold War and Vanguard following suit still effectively showed your commitment throughout the games life, since it wasn't just the 200 levels for simple prestige, but had the option to go for 1000 every single season if you so pleased, and after the lifecycle of Vanguard they let you go up to level 2500. But compared to the Modern Warfare titles from what I remember, fair enough, there's only the new seasonal levels for just the added prestiges, at least in MW3 that I've been playing and I think MW2 as well. That aside, I don't mind between classic and seasonal prestiges, but classic definitely felt more unique to the player. One thing I hope though is no type of exp cap or slowdown in zombies, and definitely interested in more and/or better rewards than typical emblem, calling card, and permanent unlock token.
I like the idea of camo and blueprint rewards as an option. Would be cool if some of the camos are based off previous popular camos from other games. Like BO3 Dark Mater is the 10th prestige camo or something like that
Classic was one normal run, then like a smg only run, then lmg run etc, focus on one perk set and kill streak set (for emblems and titles) then final prestige was to unlock the high grind titles.
While I will grind the Prestige System no matter what and I have sorely missed it, i do hope they give us some good rewards for it. Something I always found interesting about Infinite Warfare is that game had 10 Prestiges at launch and then later on, they added an additional twenty. The ten launch prestiges gave you access to classic guns from older games and the twenty post launch prestiges gave you bonuses for those guns. Something like that might be cool. Also, if we have MWIIs weapon leveling again, I think Weapon Prestige should return. Being able to show off your kills with a gun on the gun itself is cool as hell. I think COD WWII handed out camos for Weapon Prestige 3 and 4 as well.
I think weapon prestige would help balance out matches in the long run. It would give the players that really grind cod (aka the ones who are lvl 850 right now in mw3) something to go for, and when they are consistently prestiging their favorite weapons, they usually won’t end up having the best attachments for them all the time. This gives some leeway for the players who don’t play nearly as much because at the very least, their guns will be maxed out
To make the prestige system better they also need to balance the weapons, perks, etc based on level. The “best” perks and guns should be unlocked later into the levels. For example: ghost, dead silence should be unlocked level 45+. Same with weapons and wild cards.
Be interesting to see how SBMM works with traditional prestige. I remember my KD taking a sizeable hit after hitting the reset as I lost the good weapons, perks equipment etc. I suppose it would just put me in lower skilled lobbies but I feel like that might start yo-yo’ing.
I'm looking forward to classic prestige because in older CODs once I've got to maximum rank then I feel there's nothing else to do. Sure you can grind weapon camos but that gets tedious once you get to weapons you don't like using.
What I hope it is, and I know some people prefer something else, is a separate prestige system, where when you prestige, your player level resets, but your weapon levels are maintained, you would just need to unlock the guns themselves again, not level them up again. Maybe there can also be a gun prestige, which has been done before, where only then are the gun levels reset. Edit: having watched the video, I agree with you, with the only exception being that I hope you don’t have to re-unlock the category of whichever attachments happen to be universal.
Bo2 was the only cod I maxed prestiged. Was so worth it. I got so much respect at school for being that high. I even had a date to a dance because of it lmao. I was the kid known for being “good” at cod. Whatever tf that means
I’m looking forward to double xp being useful. I remember getting really excited for double xp weekends and grinding out a prestige or two. Saving big xp challenges to do during these to maximise level progression. There were even times when you could use a double xp token on a double xp weekend and get x4. I also heard of some promotions which gave you a code which would then stack with the rest to get x8. In recent games, I hit the level cap mid season so ain’t in any rush to rank up. Have dozens of tokens with no use.
This is also true for weapon xp and i’d save those tokens to use on guns that would only get unlocked at the higher levels. Very limited time to progress these before prestiging and losing access to them. I think extra weapon class slots would do well as the battle pass completions rewards. So all player can avail.
8:17 This is how I feel about challenge based unlocks for the weapons in the recent CoDs and XDefiant. If I don't wanna use a particular AR to unlock another AR and instead just wanna grind through regular levels to unlock an AR I do wanna use (For example in XDefiant, I may not wanna use the M4A1 to get the M16, since the M4A1 isn't that great from the start anyway) then I shouldn't have too. I'm not gonna be playing BO6 personally, I hope they don't include that system at all, or at least make an option instead. Forced variety is never fun just like forcing someone to Prestige is never fun. Period.
I would be a lot more excited for the classic prestige system if it wasn't for strict SBMM, because the disadvantage of not having all of the perks unlocked would only be amplified even more and that just sounds really frustrating. I see myself either not bothering with the prestige system at all in BO6 or (assuming shared progression comes back) only playing Zombies to level up for the early part of each prestige.
I really don’t mind the traditional prestige system returning in BO6. I didn’t know about this system since BO4 and when it comes to my grind in the upcoming COD, I don’t need to take a break from playing. I can at least grind 11 levels a day, accept a prestige, use a permanent unlock token on any class item, and then start at square one and repeating the process over and over again until I start prestige master. I know grinding to level 1000 could be overwhelming, but when I’m in prestige master mode, I want to at least grind 70 levels a week over my 4 to 6 hour console sessions with no other plans like going out of town or school work. As a result, I’m gonna try to put all my effort and dedication via long-term grind for the game this year.
I think for reaching Level 1000, you should get a super clean, full weapon covered Platinum Camo. That way they still have Gold, Diamond, Dark Matter (and Zombie variations) but this Platinum Camo can only be earned by reaching Prestige Master Level 1000. Also, on top of a Calling Card, it would be nice if we got like... an Adler Skin and a Stone Skin (one for each team, essentially) that was like their normal skin, only with a bunch of Platinum Accents on it. That would be worth the grind imo, if you wanted a really nice carrot on a stick, and something that most people won't be upset they can't unlock. It's not Animated, it's not the best skin, it's just a universal skin that shows your dedication, but it's unique enough to stand out every time. Please Treyarch. lol
Instead of a lame platinum camo, I would much rather have an animated rainbow crystal ice camo or animated rainbow weaponized 115 camo for reaching lv 1000 like how we had rainbow diamond in bo4
im almost certain theirs gna be a camo for prestige master, would be cool to have camos for every prestige and then from prestige master after every 100 levels you get an animated camo.
I personally think classic prestige is overrated. I never found it to add longevity, but rather the illusion of longevity. Its still the same tedious grind of limiting your loadout and killstreak options to "level up". I personally prefer being able to continue to have fun and play the game using all the things I just had to grind to get, rather than cut myself off from it just to feel like I'm still progressing. Even in classic CoD, I never found myself doing it more than 5 times on MW2, once on BO1, and 3 times on MW3. In fact the only games where I hit master prestige ranks was BO3 and IW mainly due to it not seeming like a chore. And even on those games I never got anywhere near level 1000. Maybe like the 200s. Some of the things you mentioned in the video would make it to where its really up to the player if they are willing to go without certain cosmetics (like calling cards and emblems which not many people seem to care much about in the modern CoD era). Make the reward for each rank worthwhile. Not just some custom class slots or prestige tokens. That does nothing to make me want to play longer or embark on the prestige journey. In fact, the game needs to be fun. If it's not, no one will even be sticking around to prestige in the first place.
while I'm a big fan of the old prestige system, I don't like re-locking all my class items (even though I always did it). I would prefer something like the system we have currently but without any seasonal caps.
Each prestige level should have the option to rank up to 1000. You just have the option to reset your rank after lv55. I’m old school and will be entering prestige instantly. However, if you don’t wish to, it means xp won’t be totally meaningless (at least for a while).
I feel like you sold it well for those who have never experienced the original prestige system & for those weirdos who ignored it and stayed at level 55 for example.
What if each prestige has a unique camo? It could give more incentive to prestige. Would be nice to unlock mp mastery camo, plus zombies mastery camo only to discover “the legendary camo” after achieving both camos. Also think that having different versions of gun fire audio would be nice to earn as well. That could also add to the replay ability.
The only problem is for MP and Warzone players who play both. If you prestige in BO6 and you have to unlock all your weapons and attachment again, it will not be an option for most of them. But for the MP players and the fans from way back…🎉🎉
i feel like weapon prestige only really works in the older games pre-Gunsmith where you only had a max weapon level in the teens. i haven't owned a new cod since cold war so maybe they changed something but if there was a prestige after a 100-level weapon grind or something i'd get kind of mad
I never cared for classic prestige in the past due to no good rewards beyond extra classes. Depending on what these new rewards will be might make it worthwhile. Although if it's just lame calling cards and emblems like usual then I won't bother.
But the emblem was the whole goal. You gained ‘prestige’ in the lobby as others players could see your sacrifices. Oh damn, he’s done it 4 times already!! Extra class slots were a bonus.
@@MickeyHarp I only see it as "oh you play the game a lot" An emblem means nothing to me. Especially since they look basic most of the time. The extra classes were the only worthwhile substance out of prestige. That's why I never cared when they removed classic prestige and gave us more classes by default.
@@MrKing-he3eoi would agree that it’s totally the case in recent games. Rank, prestige and emblems just equals time played. However the act of voluntary resetting your rank and unlocks is so much more. There’s a big difficulty factor and given you won’t prestige unless given more incentive, I think shows this. Nothing wrong with staying at lv55 but prestige by its very name is about showing off that achievement and not the stuff you get.

I don't think 10 loadout from start is necessary when you can edit them mid game, however i think loadout editor should be available at lvl 1 (Just like Advanced Warfare did)

I’m enjoying playing other games again and I’m no longer addicted to COD. TBH the entire war zone bs did it for me. Bout the only thing good about WZ, got me to put down this franchise. Smh
I agree with almost everything you said in this video ace and I’m super stoked that they’re bringing back prestige-ing. But i disagree with the custom class point you brought up. By limiting the number you have from the start you’re giving an extra incentive for players to grind the levels. Plus most people don’t use all 10 slots right at the beginning of a game. As they develop their skills and loadouts, they can prioritize them and if they want to have more loadouts available they can prestige. Otherwise this completely defeats your point about feeling of progression when you’re hand fed these things.
So they can’t have weekly challenges with using certain guns or have recommend guns because it would screw over those that just prestige and are back to level 1
Not exactly related to prestige but I do hope the menus don't lag and are more flawless than what is currently being used. Ill be disappointed if it lags hardcore to get to a prestige menu and or other menus.
I wonder how this will work with battlepass guns will they retroactively add them as level unlocks or will you have to do a challenge to unlock them when prestiging

Prestige rewards definitely need to be better. The current seasonal ones in MW3 pretty much suck. We literally got either a G36 or Tar-21 a season or two ago that was green and had the word 'PRESTIGE' on it. That's a load of ass. We need stuff akin to what you could earn through missions in MW2019, the really nice variants with different receiver models (Like the FN FAL becoming the DSA FAL.)
If theres 10 custom classes and i don’t get any dope rewards i doubt ill prestige. Game is too sweaty to be leveling up attachments and perks all the time
i do hope with the 10 prestiges and then the 1000 after that theyl have a higher level to prestige like level 70 so itl last. we all know there are sweats and people who will share an account to get the firsts. why not make it last as long as possible? i do miss the old prestige system but i also wish they would also add seasonal prestige too like the mw2019 where each prestige unlocked a challenge to earn emblems n calling cards etc. so even if you either get the 1000 master prestige you still have seasonal stuff to work on instead of complaining theres nothing left to do and the game is dead. yeah its their own fault for rushing so much to be a glory hunter saying theyre first to hit 1k MPrestige but at least they have something to grgind over too
I also feel like double XP weekends haven't mattered at all since they transferred to this current system, because no one cares about the current levels.

I feel like they won’t lock guns behind leveling up again in that mode because too many would complain Also will the prestiges be linked together in Zombies or different like we’ve seen in BO3? i like the prestige for the reason noone has everything available all the time, but everything else seems like homework (weapon prestige for some make-up/camo however you want to call it).
Played cod since org. Mw2 so i have played prestige cods. But with the newer cods I’ve done every camo grind for mastery camo other then CW mp (did zombies) wonder how the two we effect each other? Feel prestige would hold back the camo grind
I’ve done the camo grind in older CoDs and classic prestige did limit your ability to level up guns in the higher ranks. Needed to start using these as soon as you unlock and pop double weapon xp tokens. I’d also use my permanent unlock token on these too. The cano grind is much more streamlined now so probably won’t be as difficult as it was pre MW 2019.
