I bought a 2000 Land Cruiser back in February and your channel is far and away my favorite for all things LC. I hope that you continue to make more content. Great channel and keep up the good work.

Actually, tyre ejecting snow as it does with mud is bad. with snow, you want it to stick to the tyre! Snow on snow has the most grip, hence sipping on snow tyres. Trust me, i live in the swiss alps!

so true. even some HT tyres perform better on snow than those MTs with large chunks simply because the snow can stick on the tyres

Welcome back and nice video! Just one clarification in snow you want your tires to pack up with snow since snow-to-snow coefficient of friction is higher than rubber-to-snow!! The KM3 (and other MT) tires are designed to clear the tread of snow they don't actually provide as much traction as KO2 (and other AT) tires. AT tires tread get filled with the snow and provide superior traction. Both AT and MT tires are made of harder rubber, which means they do tend to have decreased traction in cold weather, even on dry pavement - compared to dedicated snow tires. Finally, lack of siping and hard rubber compound on both AT and MT tires make them fairly slippery on icy surfaces. A proper winter tire will run circles around them. Conclusion: for winter/snow driving: Winter tires >>>>AT tires >> MT Tires.

I think I was up there during the same time. We came up the coxey trail then went over to Holcomb valley. It was a blast and my KM3’s shredded in the snow.

I loved my km2s in the snow unless it was just a plowed layer that was packed down on the black top or ice but it was predictable if you knew the tire no sudden movements but in the dirt where they could dig and get traction they dominated in the snow on my little 4x4 5 speed 4.3 blazer 30x9.50 15s. I really love to try the km3s.

Thanks! Appreciate the video. I'm sure there are so many variables to consider when it comes to which one is better for your personal uses. But good to know that general impressions are very good with the slightly more expensive tire that isn't rated for snow, but does well nonetheless.

The BFG km3 is a great tire, But my experience which I do a lot of off roading, i’m running 39 1350 Bfg on my jeep JL, it is by far probably the worst mud terrain that I’ve used in the snow I got stuck and it’s an area that I go all the time I’m comparing this to other mud trains that I’ve used in the snow, the problem is the tire has no siping which definitely throws the snow off, otherwise it’s a great tire, but I always carry chains so if I know I’m going to hit snow I’ll just put the chains on. A mud terrain tire I’ve had a good off-road success with in all conditions is the mile star Patagonia MT, that tire was great in the snow. If you’re looking for a mud terrain that will work in the snow just make sure it has Siping. Also BFG‘s run short in size!!!

Love the 100 series! You mentioned how it sheds snow, one thing to note about why MT's don't perform amazing in the snow compared to snow tires is that mud tires are designed to shed mud, but snow tires are actually designed to hold snow. Snow on Snow traction is actually pretty good, so tires holding onto snow actually improves traction, that's why the siping on snow tires holds onto snow. So the "shedding" characteristic of Mud Terrains actually reduces it's snow performance unless it's in super deep snow.

Now test the KM3s on ice... I have never tried them myself, but people who have says to stay away from ice, unless they are siped in the middle, and studded on the sides. I use KO2s in the summer, but proper winter tires in the actual winter. And I prefer studded, because I live in Norway where icy roads are very likely in the winter. And the rubber hardness in winter tires is more suitable for colder road-surfaces. Observe that the KM3s lack the snow-crystal or mountain-peak-symbols, indicating they are not suitable for winter driving. And the KO2 has them... But my 100 is my everyday vehicle... And I do not really do much offroading with it... And if I do in the winter, it is most likely involuntarily...

Oh my god, stop it. You keep making a big furken deal about going through this soo deep snow! All I see is a liesurely slog in the compacted tracks of other previous vehicles. I't don't even snow much in SE Michigan but I leave out of my own driveway, espcially if they plowed me in through way more fresh deep snow that this little mess. the snow as maybe 8 inches all around you but all the driving shown is something a car could traverse on all season tires, unless the center hump created too much drag and I don't see that it would have. Really overblown but thanks anyway beceause I am considerin the KM3s on my short list of replacements for my current M/Ts
