The issue with people who are trans is that a lot of them might actually choose to end themselves if they aren't allowed to transition. I'd say sure it isn't the optimal situation but that's life and some people really can't keep acting the gender role they feel they aren't. If a person is forced in a situation they don't like, the negative repercussions WILL eventually come out, maybe Chris may have abused or even ended his child or ex wife's life or ended his own or gone crazy. I don't know but I would say that it is better that the kid at least didn't lose a parent and that Chris is still able to do basically everything as they did before.
