My grandad and uncle cyril lived in beaminster uncle cyril played tuba in beaminster brass band we went to a country fate at mapperton house where the band performed I was 10 years old 1964.

We did visit Beaminster after we spent a beautiful day at Mapperton, it is a sweet little town with wonderful shops and cute houses…. And we even ventured to the Jurassic coast Lyme Regis to capture the late summer sun, so much to do and see in and around Mapperton, we feel that we had the best of Dorset all in one day! About Julie, what can I say, her real passion, positive energy and charisma just brings so much joy to us… Britain is lucky to have you Julie x

Oh that's interesting - we've got the same thing here in my hometown in northern Germany. I wonder ... maybe it was a parting gift from the British regiments when they were redeployed/withdrawn some time ago. Anyway, it's a nice way of swapping books. And a nice opportunity for me now to send kind regards over to the UK.

I used to go to Netherbury primary school back in the 60s. We came to Beaminster to watch the Morris dancing and go to the main playground. Great fun back then.

when the restaurants opened up after shut down, it was only the drive thru & Door Dash etc. it took several more months for the dining rooms to open for business. Our first dining room and sit at the table was one of our favorite Tex-Mex places. To have that delicious hot food placed before you on hot sizzling plates! 😋

This is my hometown ❤ grew up here since I was born to age 20, probably know every inch of this area, some beautiful places not many people know of. I don't live here any more, moved to North Wales, miss it so much. Takes me back, thank you ❤❤

I was living in London at the time and I took the train to Lyme Regis and then my plan was to go to Beaminster. My plan was to visit the bespoke furniture school--I can't remember the name now, but I found on the day I needed to travel there I had no way of getting there. No train or bus or taxi. I believe it was a sayerdayvand Sunday, so I had to cancel my reservation. I did give her 24 hour notice and asked if she knew if there was a taxi that could come get me, insteadvshe yelled at me for canceling, saying "I knew you were going to do that" I thought well you could have given me the heads up there was no transportation to get there on that day :-D so I was very disappointed I never made it. You are lucky to have grown up there, it's such a cute town or village? I'm American and was taking a course at Royal College of Art in Englush Country houses. Julie makes me laugh because I always had the same thoughts just like Z Zed...thats three letters? Zedbra crossing ;-D

Hi Julie! My travels through the UK and Ireland have taught me the same about place pronunciations! I have to keep it to myself because here in Canada, so many places are named after places in the UK. I regularly put a zipper on it when I really want to say “It’s actually pronounced like this...”

I love these shops. I’m going to definitely be spending some time here. I’ve never had fish and chips being American. Although I’ve had Friday night fish fry where it’s a huge deal in Wisconsin. Cute 🥰 video Julie. Who gives a thumbs down‼️ Ten miserable people.

When I used to live in a small city, like extremely small, they had where is Waldo stickers you would have to find in each shop downtown, which helped people shop local. It was fun

I'm an American, and have been a fan of Highcliffe Castle ever since I watched "Mr. Selfridge" on PBS. I'd love to see you do an episode on the castle - particularly the upstairs (if it has been renovated), since you don't see it online, and for you to tell about the history of Highcliffe. I think your viewers would find it to be quite interesting. I hope to visit Dorset (Mapperton, this town, the castle, etc.) some time in the next few years, post-COVID.

Another Great video. I love the beautiful flower store, Rambling Rose 🌹 I fell in love 💕 with Beaminster. Thank you for showing off this charming town and I hope to visit it& Mapperton. I don't have a green thumb 🌱🍀👍 either , but I would love to see more on how to garden with Kate~ BTW, I love the scarecrows!! Great way to keep the community connected and in a safe way.

Only some of the homes in the village would have had thatch, most would have been constructed with the slate tiles, which was commonplace in the 17th, 18th and 19th century. The 20th century would have introduced additional materials like asphalt.

Ok first, that outfit is SO STINKIN ADORABLE, and you look like a million bucks in it! (er, or perhaps a million pounds?) Second, I love your "touristy" enthusiasm for everything there, rather than the typically reserved, blasé, or even jaded attitude a lot of aristocratic folks (or just Brits in general) tend to have over there. As much as I adore all things British, I will probably never be able to visit, so having you as a "guide" is extremely helpful! ❤

Have you already addressed (for future visitors) what airports are closer, transportation to Beaminster , interesting routes to drive if they are driving themselves in, the most common things visitors forget to bring (or leave behind).

The Alphabet song was first copyrighted as The Schoolmaster in 1834 by an American which explains why the Z (zed) is pronounced zee. It uses the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Tune. So you can’t really use it as a reference to its pronunciation.
