Coming late to this, after the election was called for Biden. All week I had a hard time concentrating, staying on task, feeling grounded and balanced. I worked at my local poll place as a ballot clerk (verifying voters + handing out ballots) - it went very well, no issues at all, everyone was friendly. It did help me feel good about the election, even if the outcome might not work out the way I hoped. After my poll work I drove more than two hours to my boyfriend's place on the Cape (Massachusetts) to be with him and a tiny circle of friends for a couple days, giving and receiving support and camaraderie, and just "being." It helped tremendously. And now, the election has turned out in our favor (in large part)! No matter what the outcome, having supportive friends who understand and (optionally) relate to where you are and how you're feeling about things, is critical to our health. Thank you for being part of that circle, Brian!
Oh yeah, I can definitely relate to having a hard time focusing all week. I'm glad that you have great friends to surround each other with. And glad to be part of that circle, too :)
I stayed up till 2AM, watching the voter counts come in. I'm exhausted. But I avoided any of the TV coverage: I just knew they'd be covering every damn thing Trump tweeted. So I just watched the numbers by The Guardian and AP. Fingers-crossed.
thankfully there wasn't much about Trump tweets on NBC and ABC but it was definitely not the most calm-inducing evening ;) I'm feeling more settled today as the votes continue to be counted but I also know that we have A LOT of work ahead of us as a country still in the weeks, months, and years to come.
