How YOU Can Afford Land! 

Another great video, Billy. Thank you. I'm a retired school teacher, 75 year old lady and I live by myself. I just bought 87 acres of woodland in the mountains for less than $1000 an acre. But it took me 5 years to find the perfect deal. I have 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. I thank the Lord my kids all have jobs and are doing well, but I am going to live on the 87 acres by myself and prepare a safe haven for my family if they ever need one. On these acres is everything they would need to survive; timber, creek and springs, wildlife, edible plants. I've lived off grid before by myself so I know I can make it with God's help. This is the time to draw on our pioneering ancestors` strength and determination! I am looking forward to establishing my family's Home Place. I give all the glory to God for making this possible. As with Esther, "For such a time as this."

We are kindred spirits. I am a navy vet, became a IBEW journeyman (now a nearly retired master electrician with the corps of engineers), Christian, and I live on 35 acres in central Arkansas. You’ve inspired me to begin perma farming! Thank you.

When I had the sudden urge to get land everyone looked at me like I’d grown a third eye 😂 I’m not gonna say it was an easy process for us, actually it almost didn’t happen thanks to the godforsaken policies of the VA financing, but all I can say is I’ve never been more at peace in my short 30 years of life since we became stewards of this land.

Wow. Somehow history this gave me incredible hope. I've been struggling with raising my two kids figuring out how to leave our apartment and take them to the safety of a homestead away from the city. I swear by God, for my children, it will be done! Thank you for the encouragement!

Every single day I am thankful I have a mom who encouraged me to think for myself. Too many are taught WHAT to think and not HOW to think nowadays, so they truly don't know any better. One of the greatest lessons I was ever taught, no matter the situation there is ALWAYS something you can learn from it. I'm glad to see folks like you out here showing people that it not everything taught in school is true. The education system is designed to make good employees, not good innovators, but it's the innovation future generations are going to need.

We moved from the city to the country four years ago and never dreamed of owning so much land! It changed our boys' lives for the better and they love farming now. Instead of buying new cars like most teenagers, they surprisingly used their money for tractors and other farming equipment.

I binged those permaculture at work videos when I first found your channel. I enjoyed them!

My first lot I was paying for my first lot ant the one attached to it had gone through foreclosure. Made the realtor an offer that was rejected . Went to put in a fence line and had the underground utilities marked . The house and lot that I made an offer on utilities ran across my land 25 ft out of the rite of way . Called the realtor and told them to get their utilities off my land . Next day she. Called me and the bank employing her accepted my previously rejected offer. Observe and find your leverage point.

I don’t normally comment, cause I’m Watching on the go. Thanks for this conversation. We bought our property in mountains of NC in 2021. We had a lot of equity in the home after purchasing. We also have land in another part of the mountains where the bulk of our animals are. This life style is not easy but doable. I want more acres and don’t want a bank loan to do it. So this is great advice ❤

I agree 100%. I have tried to go through a realtor before about land, trying to work a deal with land own. Realtor said land owner didn't want a land contract. I found who owned the property and got their phone number and called. Owner was willing to do a deal, but 5 minutes before I called someone offered cash. I know this will work and I'm going to do the same. Love the work you do. I'm on the road to self sufficient! GOD BLESS!!

I been learning new thing for 2 years now getting ready for this .I make my own dryage sausage and salami now .I make my own wine beer .I have 5 gardens and am going to make a root cellar this summer and putting in a small solar system to just for lights .I have an artesian well and wood fire.i want to be as capable as I can be as we go into this .I have my own saw mill and built a house to get my kids out of the city to my land .I am building another log house this summer for my other kids. As I do all this people around me laughing at me .I know how Noah felt believe me .but if it's not as bad as I am expecting good if not I will be ready and comfortable.

Fuck cant. I was homeless 7 years ago and now own my land paid in full. Victim's mentality drives me insane I can't stand them.

You're right. Some folks have positioned themselves, so now, they only need to head to the store for just toilet paper and aluminum foil? I installed a bidet. Now I just head to the store for aluminum foil.

That's how I bought 10 acres in Cumberland, Virginia. Went to the owner. I grew lots of veggies and flowers and sold them online and flea markets. Land paid for itself in 5 years. Thanks for the extra info 😊 have a great week.🥰😊👍🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱

Our 16.8 acres was bought via a contract with a local businessman......will be paid in full within 2 years! No mortgage, no realtor. We found ours through a friend so let your friends know if you’re interested in land. Word of mouth can make things happen!!

We just acquired 100 OPEN acres for hay and pasture from a 92 year old farmer and his daughter, trading for eggs and produce! Relationships can be made for less than anyone could imagine!

We bought our 1st 2 acres without a conventional mortgage. We sold it at a huge profit and reinvested it in the 120 acres. Now we have 3 tracts that we are selling...

We have an arrangement with our Landlord so we have stabilized rent here in Chicago. I manage the property ( snow, leaves , yard, common areas in our Two Flat ) and I get to do what ever I want in the yard. I’m able to send my daughter to private school and live in a neighborhood with 2 million dollar homes. Thank you for the pointers on buying land , it never hurts to ask someone and get an agreement started. My seeds are started and I’m awaiting May 15th to get this garden going😜

In my state we have county level property tax auctions. We bought a neighboring property at annual tax sale. Brick cap cod on 2 acres with block garage for just over 10k had original 1940s wall paint and varnish in the hardwood floor. It IS doable. EXCELLENT video ...couldnt agree MORE!!! Bought a cabin in the mountains after 3 years of HUSTLE, networking, talking, meeting people and building bridges. ...."Make your own breaks" (from one of my mentors)

I love making the connection because if chickens on the job site can become permaculture and properties, maybe buying a mobile diagnostic machine to travel to doctors offices can get me off night shifts at a hospital 2 towns away. 😊Thanks for sharing

I bought 18 lots at the tax auction spent 800 dollars. They were lots a land spectacular bought and never paid the taxes on the lots .

5.8 trillion and what do we get for all of this spending?????? We get to live on two Social Security checks and one pension after working full time for over 50 years and people wonder why my husband still works part-time. Yes, we could live without his pay check, if we never went anywhere or buy another car the rest of our lives. We worked hard jobs, thousands of hours of overtime and some times more that one job. We do travel and will keep traveling for as long as we can, because our two sons live 600 to 900 miles from where we live. We worked hard so we could enjoy our "golden years", but the government has taken all of the gold and spent it on people who don't work. Look out Billy, we might be moving into your neighborhood! Acrtually Billy, You and Danny have shown everyone how to accomplish their goals. Get up off your backside, and work for it. 24 hours in a day, and you could be busy for 16 of them.

Folks, the content you clicked on this video to see is from about 8:15 to 12:30. It's very cliffnote-like. If I hadn't seen some other videos on the subject, I wouldn't have had a clue what he was talking about.

My biggest advice is to develop skills that will financially reward you, then make a conscious choice to live considerably below your means, which allows you to be your own bank to an extent.

Truthful info. I bought 11 acres listed from a tiny add in the newspaper. Subsequently it was tied up in heirs property. I waited it out for a year before it was cleared. Thanks to my real estate agent.

An owner finance situation can backfire on the buyer. I have seen it happen about five times. Some of these people selling property write up contracts that are unfair to the buyer. Do your homework. Make the seller register the sell at the courthouse. Make sure you get three months before they can take back the land if you miss a payment. I have seen contracts for two weeks and I have seen contracts for 30 days and you have to be out. Read that contract thoroughly. There are scam artists out there. They are notorious in Florida. There are people that will sell property that not even theirs. They see some one on vacation or winter residents go back up north and before you know it, scam artists will sell the house under owner finance and both the buyer and owner is scammed.
