It all starts with a question: why would RU-vid show a video about masturbating with a vulva to 97% men? Algorithms are only as smart as we make them, and while understanding them can be easy, fixing them takes some real work.

POST SHOOTING NOTES: - Hilariously, only after I recorded the video did I realize that I apparently can't embed videos anymore except with cards. D: - Dictionary term is one word, but the term I was actually looking for is a *controlled vocabulary* which is somewhat different!

Such an interesting case... I wish they made more of those stats available. Who they showed it to, who clicked it, what the overall RU-vid demographics are... etc...

This is super interesting, thanks! Nice to get the right information about gender. Also I think you gave a wonderful example of gender bias here! One thing I want to say is that the recent Google algorithm probably combine their Knowledge Graph with neural network models maybe that becomes harder to interpret, but certainly we estimate that is some huge gender bias there!

For me, the great silenced subject in sex ed is imagination. Women sometimes watch corn. We're sometimes on AO3 and some buy books on amazon, 50 shades of grey. Our partners have a very mechanic understand of all of it. That s what pick up artists do not tell but that works (even reading slash). Involuntary celibates can absolutely become fluent in becoming fairly hot.

Hey Stacks and Faps! :) Some terms to think about using next time is cis-men and cis-women to describe studies that study just that, just women with vulvas and men with penises. It's not as fast as men and women, but more accurate and inclusive.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I was a little clumsy in parts (a side-effect of mostly doing scripted videos). Hilariously, I remembered that I could have used "cisgender" to describe what I was disclaiming in the beginning only AFTER uploading (but, like, 2 hours later). However, in retrospect that wouldn't have been quite accurate, either, because endocrinology is complex! Things are somewhat complicated because I started the discussion about gonads and hormones, which don't always map exactly with cis or trans (or for that matter, intersex) bodies' internal or external genitalia. While the studies of masturbation didn't explicitly study trans folks, we can extrapolate that people who haven't started hormone therapy or sex reassignment surgery likely have the same or similar experiences with puberty.

@@StacksFacts Oh I must have misheard! I thought you were referring to studies that focused on cis-people (and while they could very well have included trans and non-binary and intersex people, I'm assuming those individuals would be misgendered based on the cis binary that plagues basically all scientific study).
