Kaiba was such a great show. It's a shame hot few people have seen it.

Nekore Legaia Ya, it was never explained what warp was doing in the slums in the first place prior to his memory loss though. Or why defective warp was allow ing the new warp to be born when he want to stay in power

Nekore Legaia I could name other stuff that was left in explained but I'd be droning
@jx4219

@@theeye8276 That's not true. It's just simple. Warp was bored in the palace and didn't like the constant surveillance. In the beginning of episode 9 he was flying around on a glider alone with closed eyes apparently dozing off and crashed into a building where neiro found him. He didn't have memory loss then but already a small hole in his chest which presumably came from the missing love in his life. If you mean the first episode he fell because defective warp opened a trapdoor under him and neiro. Warp sacrificed himself and saved neiro with his mask from the toxic clouds but lost his memory when he breathed them in and crashed into the slums where episode 1 begins. And defective warp probably couldn't prevent warp from being born and then he couldn't get rid of him because first he was protected and second he was invincible from the outside. He waited for a chance which neiro gave him by leading warp into that secluded room with a trap door.
@theeye8276
@theeye8276 5 лет назад
@@jx4219 what do you mean he couldn't stop the new warp from being born? He destroyed the AI easily enough later in the series sp why couldn't he have done it sooner?
@theeye8276
@theeye8276 5 лет назад
@@jx4219 I know what happened in the series so you really didn't have to write all that btw but I appreciate the recap. When I said it didn't explain what he was doing in the slums I was refering too him flying on his glider and dozing off as you said. The series did not explain why he was there.

@@bombintheseeinqWhy does it have to be stated anywhere? It’s apparent with the unique character designs given the influence of Tezuka’s work. Sorry if I come across a little strong here, but to me that’s like asking for a source to verify if Mega Man was in any way inspired by Astro Boy

Absolutely the one biggest reason why Yuasa is my favourite anime director. Complete visual freedom is the one clear advantage that animation has over live-action. As a director why would you not want utilize that? Just look at all the cardboard cutout light-novel designs we're getting lately... I can only thank studios like bones for still putting big priorities on art and visual aesthetics.

Y'all should thank Taiyo Matsumoto for ping pong. The anime is basically a 1:1 representation of the manga!

I just fell into this wormhole of analyzing Ping Pong the anime series... simply mesmerized by everything about it-- its color design, its narrative depth, its storytelling, and how it got the sports genre so right... Thanks for this series on Yuasa... I am plowing right thru these videos.

They are unique no doubt. Each one is carefully designed to complement or even add to the existing narrative. I love how he warps the entire visual design to make that work stand out but through his minimalistic approach it doesn't overload the viewer or distract them.

Thanks for making these awesome videos! i dont have a an top list. i normally pick an anime to watch based on my mood. sometimes i like a classic, sometimes a cute slice of life, but i dont like much loli animes tho. because those are overused. I watched all of Shin Chan's movies when I was young, so I was exposed to Yuasa's animation at a very young age. I must say, back then I didn't appreciated it because it always felt so wonky, fidgety and way too hyper for my likings. I came across Yuasa again as an animation student, my lecturer gave a brief lecture about him before and that's when I know his name for the first time. I immediately recognized his style because it's so distinct, and then I realize just how much of a masterpiece his works are. There is no other animator who could pull of the same style of animation as his. The way the characters, the world, camera moves. It's dynamic, expressive and so full of life, it's literally art! I hope that one day I will be able to create animation just like his!
