The Eccentric Family is one of all time favourite shows for so many reasons, but I never quite got into The Tatami Galaxy. Probably gonna give it another go now, even if it's just so I can watch Night Is Short, Walk On Girl as well

Anyone else think the father from Penguin Highway could be an older version of Watashi from Tatami Galaxy? Maybe an alternate universe version? He has the same signature hair and dresses similarly. He's also the one who explains to Aoyama the universe (or galaxy) could fit into a small pouch just like it could into a 4½ tatami room 👀

Studio Colorido is a very well suited name, since colorido means colored in Spanish

"Colorido" is colorful/full of color (both meanings work), "coloreado" is more like past "to color".

Penguin Highway was so eccentric! I love it even though I'm slightly confused on what what is going on half the time. I should really try out watching Tatami Galaxy and Eccentric Family at some point. Another great video Jack!

Tatami galaxy changed my life. Properly so because I too have opportunity hanging in front of me and I have done nothing to grab it in the last two years of my engineering degree. I am the last version of "I" the "I" who had given up and stays only in his room.

I cannot understand how people can praise something that gives them a sense of false hope. There’s one scene in this film that hits me very hard, where we observe senpai’s thoughts and feelings visualized in a courtroom. I’ve been struggling with depression ever since this pandemic hit and I’ve undergone a number of breakups; few as they were affected me severely. Whereas senpai manages to win her heart in one night, I attempted to cut my arm purposefully a few nights ago because that’s how hopeless I feel the situation to be. Sometimes I still feel that way, and I turn to alcohol to drown out my loneliness. All I want in the end is someone I can cherish, hold close, and share this life of mine with, explore the great outdoors and settle down in a small log cabin in the Rocky Mountains to raise a family. But sometimes I feel like I’m asking too much. The film said, “Waiting hurts, and being waited upon hurts. But those who are alone must act.” I’ve tried many times only to have my heartbroken. I’ve lost how many girls I’ve given my number to in College. Senpai has no fucking clue how lucky he is. All the shenanigans, the magic moments, the confessions, they’re bullshit, unreal. They’ll never happen to me. Sometimes I feel like my heart is so broken, it’ll implode. I need help.

Tatami Galaxy is Monogatari tier in terms of fast dialogue, art and subtitles. It takes practice but it's so worth it (though I admit it's not that hard if you were raised by sub-only parents)

That would explain why the eccentric family reminded me just a little bit of night is short walk on girl, being in Kyoto and with the drinking of Denkibran there was just that little bit of recognition. Dropped it to watch Tatami Galaxy instead, ironically. I prefer the almost magical-realism of Tatami Galaxy and Night is Short to the more urban fantasy of the eccentric family but maybe I’ll go back to it at some point
