It was my late-best friend's wish because she gobbled up fanfics with all the time she was in the hospital. To my eternal regret I didn't write it even though she passed in 2017 and when it reached the fifth anniversary of her death I felt strong enough to do it. As I got back into kpop both seriously as a fan and to catch up on kpop trends, I found out that the the precise kind of group we planned in 2016/17 had debuted as Ateez in 2018. Small company, focused on performance rather than perfect synchronicity, with a scorpio leader with an intense stage presence and even a nightmare child like Wooyoung. My ex husband told me to "just write the f-king thing anyway because I am sick of hearing you whine about this shiz. Plus Wattpad isn't that that important, if you had a publishing offer that would bring money in for your lazy disabled ass I would put up with it. Now go to sleep for f-k's sake". I recall every word because it hit me between the eyes that this man I had loved since the age of 15, almost 20 years, was saying such horrible things about something I will never forgive myself for and I get that response... Heart broken instantly, my former employer speed dialled to get the papers drawn up and a year later, he regretted saying what he did, especially as he was forced to give me half of his 50k savings account, pension fund and repay the landlord back rest based on the fact he lied to get the house paid for with government benefits. Still, I feel like I will never get over that grief now as the outlet I pinned my hopes on to be a catharsis isn't available anymore and writing it for no one to see feels wrong.
