Very useful video. I am planning to get the Recon Dalek and spares - the spares I am aiming to create some variants of Skaro Degradations (very fun to make - I am halfway through variants I have been using the Dalek Patrol Ship for the core figure).

Glad you did this. I've just recently bought one with the intention of making it a geneticist, with a color scheme similar to what was seen in Dalek Tales. I figured maybe the Recon Dalek could altenratively visit other worlds to collect genetic material for experiments and weapons.

This is a brilliant figure but the articulation on the Manipulator Arm and the Exterminator Arm is non existent. If you could ever make a mold with it being smaller that’ll be nice.

Unfortuantely that's not how it work, to give the arms more space to move I'd have to expand the gun boxes which in turn would expand the whole front section, then the whole body for it to fit into and so on. Whilst the movement of the arms is somewhat limited that's just how the design is, and it's not something that can be easily changed

Have you ever dismantled an 18 inch Red Supreme Dalek?

No, I only have one and it's the only 18" Dalek I have that's in full working order so I'm not going to risk taking it apart

would it be possible to unscrew the top half of the dalek without breaking apart the skirt? Maybe by removing the base, then using a thin screwdriver to maneuver between the interior plastic struts that hold the dalek together?

Unfortunately not, as the bars which hold the two skirt halves together make access to the screws on the panel which hold the top half to the dome almost impossible. The only other option would be to cut out the bars after you remove the base but if anything that creates more work

@@CaptainJimiPie thanks for replying. That's a shame, but with some masking tape and some careful spray-painting, I think I'll be able to get the result I want without having to dismantle the figure.

Well you say wait to make one, but how about I, don't, do that? Seriously, I don't really mind if we get an official one, I want to give it a go, see what I can do, regardless of how accurate it turns out. I will say I'll wait until the Finale, just incase we get a trailer, or an ending teaser, or something

If YOU don't want to do that then fair enough, that's up to you, but just others might not feel the same way, so I'm just making a suggestion for those who might have only pre-ordered one of those and/or aren't sure about dismantling it for a custom that we may get an official version for. Plus the chances of them show the entire Dalek in 360 degrees in a trailer seem unlikely to me so personally (as I'm sure many others feel the same) it seems to make more sense to wait until we'd seen it for sure so we can make any customs ones as accurate as possible.

I don't understand what you mean? If you mean it's not new as in the figure has been out for a while then so has this video...it's almost a month old now and was actually uploaded before the figure was released in shops. Just because YOU see something for the first time doesn't mean it's only just come out

No worries! And it can sometimes be stressful but at the same time it's interesting as it's something new and different so it's as much as a learning curve for me doing it as it is for those watching it :)

nice video as always! could you do a video on how to remove paint scuffs without messing up the paint underneath? I have a series 5 11th doctor figure with some paint scuffs on his face and its been bugging me for months!

Thanks and not really something I would do as it varies from figure to figure, due to paint/plastic types etc, so it would be difficult to make a video that encompasses all different types

plz make a custom 5 inch nightmare in silver cyberman and a new cyberman model and the loan cyberman as they would be cool as you make the best and most badass custom figures

Whilst they are things I would like to make I don't have any plans to make them anytime soon simply because of the complexity of their design means it would take ALOT of work to make them, and that means having the time spare also.

can you do a tutorial on how to take apart the normal figures? i know how to do the head but nothing else since i’m new at making customs

Unfortunately that's not really something I can do, sorry. Simply because no two figures really come apart the same way so I'd either have to do a video dismantling LOTS of different figures which I don't really have the time or resource to do, or I'd have to just do one figure which would only really be helpful if you were dismantling that one figure...which would defeat the point of doing a tutorial.

Because I’ve seen quite a few people saying they’re planning to customise their when they get them and so it’s just a useful tutorial for those who want to know how to take it apart. If you don’t see the point in it then fair enough but it’s good information for plenty of others
