I wish I could transport back to living in the 80's (I was born in 1972) Had no worries, no mortgage, no debt,no stress, no arguments, no dis functional families Just Brilliant music xxxxx
This sort of music is part of my earliest memories. I was 5 years old at the time and the radio was always on with the latest pop music. Of course I couldn't understand what the lyrics were about but I could tell the music was good.
kittyCat Furbabies Bunch of kids 😊....41...42...46.... Yeah. Just wait for your 50's. Y'all were probably pulling the tape out of our cassette tapes and scratching our albums rolling them around on the floor like my little brother and sister did. My precious Boston album. Gone. Album cover was some kinda paper airplane experiment. Boneheads.....Seriously though, I'm glad you guys remember the tunes from those great days.
He saw a synth in his local music shop, early 80s, he just had to have, so made payments in his hometown of High Wycombe UK...... rest is solid historical musical Excellence...... 80s were, was and will b the best
He used to drive around in his cosworth blasting out his own tunes and sticking his head out of the window back in the day. This was late 80s when he was all but forgotten and the hits had dried up
im 39 today..and i still think the 80's were the best years...yes people say the clothes were crap and the music was shite..but...everyone was happy and individual....bring those times back....
Howard Jones was the very first live show I ever saw--at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, California, when I was 12--1980. Shortly after, I saw Duran Duran, and the Cure, and was off to a life of hundreds of live shows--heck, maybe thousands. I saved every single ticket stub from shows that had tickets, and I recently gathered them together and made several gigantic framed collages that anyone whom visits my home always spends a long time examining. It's a great way to transport oneself back in time, and I can pin down milestones in my life by looking at the date of a particular show. But it was Howard Jones that got me started. I can still remember walking out of that show to my friend's mom's car on a cloud of wonderment; never before had I been transported to such nirvana--live music still has that effect upon me. There is something indescribable about the energy you get from hearing music you love being played live in front of a crowd who becomes a single, living, breathing, dancing and shouting organism of collective unconscious. Or just having a cracking good time.
A sheer genius and a Masterpiece. I absolutely loved growing up in the 80s they were the best times ever. When T.V, Music and Life was so much better I would give anything to go back and never leave. 80s forever ♥❤ 💙 ♥
Aww man I used to love this song so much. I was only 14 when it came out and didn't realize the true meaning of the lyrics. Thanks for uploading and sharing with us 80's kids.
He is saying that no matter what life throws you, you should never stop trying to be your best. Don't keep your light under a bushel because you are afraid to let it shine. :)
I so miss 80s for music care free times no Brexit trump Russia kim yun I'm OK we had thatcher regards but that seems so small these days miss 80s .com we have that shit to
I met Howard because I was on tour in the 80's with Thomas Dolby (playing keyboards and singing) and Howard was filming his video in Switzerland where we were doing the Montreux Rock Festival!
Good for you! I can't believe this song is 25 yrs old!!!!!!! I was stationed in England 1993-95. I wished more of his songs were played, especially this one....but I live in Louisville, Kentucky, USA....they play 80's music here but songs heard ALL OF THE TIME! Let me DJ and I will change that!!!!
heard this on the 80s channel the other day..............forgot how good it was..............made this 46 year old feel young/old again in a matter of minutes lol
I haven't heard this song in a long time.I'd almost forgot he done this. Its one of his best after hearing it again.Has anyone checked out his Hide and Seek performance at Live Aid? What a great pianist he is! I'm glad he's still touring,i hope to catch him if he ever comes to a place near me.
I had the same feelings of rejection anger and lonliness and i lived at hime with both parents constantly arguing and drinking themselves senseless and when it suited them hitting their kids senseless so i do know where your coming from and i used to hang about with some lads from the kids home near me and went to school with them thats when we wern’t bunking off that is and those times defined who i became in my later adult life and this music is a poignent reminder of those good/bad times and i try to look at every scenario as being a bit of good and bad so try to find the good within the bad ud be amazed at what you learn about yourself
I understand. Sometimes parents just don’t know what to do with us though. Intelligent, energetic children are HARD on parents, but what a blessing. “Experts” tell our parents to send us away..... Worst possible thing to do. Abandonment syndrome..... If I’d had a kid like myself though, don’t know how I’d deal. The things we went through in kids homes.......
Totally the man was musicly ahead of his time , God had a 6ft poster of him on my bedroom ceiling of him with came free with a special edition single wich I had to save up for from slogging paper round then que 15 miles away from home in a record store to get it , so worth it tho , then I upset my lil bro & he drew a black tash on howard was destroyed :(
My friend David Holman of Northport Alabama killed himself a few years ago. He was always some kinda sad. He would’ve said the same thing about Howard Jones. I miss him……….
@rabXS i have just seen howard jones The christians and ABC in sheffield dec 6th 2010 on a 80'rewind tour AND HE STILL SOUNDS AS GOOD TODAY AS HE DID THEN !!
Music in the 80's was not constructed by the likes of Cowell and co creating for the masses for commercial gain first and foremost. The artists led the business back then and that's why the music was so creative and wonderful.
The electro beats in this are awesome. If you listen to some of the music of today from artists like Example, Calvin Harris, Mark Ronson to name a few, they all take their influence from people like Howard Jones. Its testament to their great work in the 80s.
HoJo is such an underated artist who deserved to be a gigger success than he was. This song went around ... and around ... and around... in my cassette player. My favorite song of his. Neat!
I remembered this song because of the video where he's hitting the snare like he does at the beginning. But, I could never remember the song title. At the beginning of August, I got to see him in concert, and he kicked off the show with this song. I didn't hear the title or remember if he even announced it. I tried to have Google Sound Search on my phone find it for me, but it wasn't working. Days later, while binging HJ here on YT, I found it! It was like finding a pearl in the shell (pun intended)! The beat is probably what makes this one of my favorites.
And the fear goes on shadows And the tear flows on for nothing And the fear goes on shadows And the tear flows on for nothing 👍 Love this song! 👍👍👍👍👍 😍 X

Can i go back for 1 day in the 1980s pls nice to see people not being zombies by phones keeping them selves to there self stuck with head phones on people were not judged on no x factor or talent shows
They did have headphones though - Walkmans started about '78, although the first ones had two sockets so you could listen with a friend. The rest is true of course.
I was fan club no 01221, love this mas so much, his mum, Teresa, rang my mum to check I was ok after sending him a letter. love to you Howard and your family xxx
Yes. And I ❤ howard. Brilliant musician.great 80s song and artist.hope you read my message howard.......great to relive this song era.........simpler time of life.
@shmuli9 Yeah. "Automatic music machine" was a theme brought up in both George Orwell's work "1984" (as the narrative put it, it made songs for the Proles to sing or hum along to) and another dystopian novel about a society where everyone lives alone (includig parents; they reporduce by taking eggs and sperm out of donors and then doing everything in the lab), in something like a very small studio.
The Fella from High Wycombe was undoutbably Fucking Mustard. He should be regarded with a lot more than paying Howard Jones' mortgage..as funny as that was. Brilliant Songwriter and Miusician. Thanks H for being You. 👍❤
Amazing amazing still a perfect summer sound decades later kept off number one by frankie GTH but never the less so uplifting in every way. Oh the memories of the eighties, a lifetime ago. June 2020 😎♥️😎♥️🔥👍
Saxaphone by no less than Davey Payne ( from Ian Dury and the Blockheads). Jones's Humans Lib is one of those albums we should all listen to before we die.
