Howdy A8 Ep. 15 - How to fix the 'flat battery + key stuck in the ignition' issue on the Audi A8 D3 

you could have pressed the small button on one side of the ignition circle. depress it while turning the key counterclockwise until you hear a click and the key should release. Then use your key to open the trunk instead of your Audi-approved OEM trunk release tool.

Thank you! 2007 Audi S8. The little thing by the ignition didn't have the pin hole. It was like it was gone and I tried everything. I ended up using this method through the trunk. Life saver.

Thanks my friend. I left the lights on my 05 A8 while on vacation . Fixed it fast. Saved me. Trunk key lock was also froze up.

Open bonnet theres 2 jump pins jump from nother battery or connect a charger to them gives enough current to pop electric boot lock,some audis like my A6 have aa key lock on boot just have to bend down to find it

Bro you have 2 keys and you can also open the trunk with the key ‘ next time when you see that the battery is empty for example the keyless opening didn’t work then open at first the trunk 😂

man, there is a key lock in the trunk that you can use to unlock it LOL

Access the battery charge jump point located on the passenger side, right side kick panel. This is where you can jump your car from.

My 06 A8L. My battery died with my truck open while I was using obdeleven to gain access to the green menu and restore my air suspension menu. I'm in the process of changing my water pump and timing belt so I can't start my car. I forgot to put it on the battery maintainer. The key is stuck, the word SAFE was on the trip odometer then the center heads up display turned all read, flashed a key with a slash through it and everything was dead. The battery in the key fob was dead as well. Recharged the battery and replaced the key fob battery. The button beside the key for the release is broken out and doesn't work. When I attached the battery the lights on the dash flash quickly and then they're gone. Turning the key does nothing. I can see the mileage and the MMI is still on and active. The e-brake seems to be working as well as the leveling button on the driver door. The car is in jack stands as well. The steering wheel doesn't lock either. Turning the key either way does nothing. Any suggestions

20 years old technology of D3 overgrown you guys. In post above it's the answer for that situation.

My vehicle was running perfect and I purchased a new battery due to the winter season. Once I swapped batteries now my 2005 Audi A8L. Won’t start. Unfortunately I did the same thing for my 1998 and neither will crank after changing batteries. Smh
