Today we are back to the Wirral Peninsula to explore the North Wirral Coast. Starting from Hoylake we follow the Wirral Way along the coast to Leasowe Common where you’ll see the oldest brick built lighthouse in Great Britain dating back to 1763. We then head on New Brighton, known pre 19th century for smuggling and wrecking we head up to perch rock to the fort with views of the fort and lighthouse and then head down New Brighton Parade and on to Egremont Ferry with fantastic views across to Liverpool and the Liver Building. We continue down to Seacombe which is currently closed for refurbishment but normally would let you hop on a boat over into Liverpool. From here we head into Birkenhead heading for Birkenhead Park where we can pick up a bus or train back to Hoylake. The route measures 10.8 miles, is well surfaced throughout and has some absolutely stunning views.
