See my most recent HP Stream review as a comparative:
• HP Stream 11 / 14 $200...
HP doesn't really market this laptop (in fact it even lacks a name) but it's a better value than their HP Stream 11 and 14 line of laptops that sell for $199 and $229 respectively.
What makes this one a better buy is that it has a really nice 1080p 14" IPS display - something I haven't seen on a $200 Windows laptop before. The nicer display comes at the cost of battery life, with the removable battery pack delivering just 4 or 5 hours of usage tops.
The machine is powered by an AMD E2-7110 APU (quad core) along with 4 GB of RAM and 32GB EMMC storage. Another advantage here over the Stream is that it is upgradeable to 8 GB of RAM and possibly a SATA hard drive (see more at the Amazon link for what other users are doing to upgrade their laptops).
If you can live with the battery life this is a better buy over the Stream with comparable performance. The display and upgradeability are key selling points.

you have a good point, a name cost a lot. you may think this is a joke but a marketing team is very expensive. In my opinion, I would rather have a laptop with better performance and specs rather than a awful laptop with a fancy name, for the same price.

Hey I just bought a HP Refurbished 14-an013nr from Walmart for 150 bucks put a 8 gig stick of memory in it now have 12gigs of memory,Put in a 256 Gb Crucial SSD drive it works great I now have a fast computer for all my RU-vid HD viewing.

I put an anti-glare cover on the screen and its really great. Love this laptop and the battery life not an issue for me. I use it for school, the weight and size are perfect. I have decided to upgrade and install a 120GB SSD and may upgrade RAM later. Like your video, very well spoken.

I average depending on use 4-5 hrs; I have a lot of apps open when I use my computer running 16GBs of memory, if I use video it will cut it down some. I purchase three extra batteries, have them charged and ready for my vacation times. Batteries average on Amazon average $19.95, eBay average between $19.00 through $38.00. I hope this helps. Primary use -- trips, vacations leaving my high end tech at home.

Hi Lon,I noticed there is a second DIMM slot on the motherboard on the picture that you showed.Adding a second stick of ram will make it run in dual channel thus massively increasing graphics performance.

If anything, increasing the VRAM allocation from 64MB to 256-512MB will do more good even though Dual Channel is not supported..

This device and many other low cost devices only include a FastEthernet NIC. At least it does have a single USB3 port which can be used to provide gigabit ethernet via an adapter.

I have this laptop, and I wish it had Gigabit Ethernet because it doesnt. It only has LAN 10/100 but it does have AC Wifi built in.

Lon, when testing counterstrike don't use bots as you lose about 30fps compared to multiplayer. Also the map you played on is a very intensive map.

Could you please change the resolution in games for devices like this. At 720p there are 17fps but how is it performing at 1024×768? maybe there you get over 30 so it would be nice if you could test more resolutions for low end devices in gaming

yh,u need something with more cpu and gpu power,streaming from console i think should be (i dont on console,so idk) ok but editing? no way,try building a pc 450gaming pc,you can save alot over buying a laptop or prebuilt pc that can handle heavy editing,join the pc master race,you wont regret it

32 emmc is unacceptable. I can't believe they ship ANYTHING with this. I say this because I got an Acer Revo just as Anniversary Update was released and the PC couldn't update due to lack of room. I'm not going to install via USB stick, thanks, and neither is the typical customer of this unit. 64 emmc is mandatory -- even if it means a price increase.

I crossed to over to Maine to buy my dell inspirion 15, paid $350 which was $420 CAD at the time. Same computer in canada was $800 And has no touchscreen and only 6GB of ram vs 8GB mine has. Definitely worth crossing the border for electronics purchases.
