As part of a long-term test, we unboxed and set-up the Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 AiO from HP. This A4 color inkjet AiO has automatic duplex printing, 802.11n WiFi networking, WiFi Direct printing, mobile printing via HP ePrint and Apple AirPrint and USB 2.0 direct connect. It does not have an ADF (A4 flatbed platen only) but can print, copy and scan. It is available only in non-English speaking countries for ~$99.99.
When compared to most other HP printers with tri-color cartridges, Ink Advantage cartridges are considerably less expensive which minimizes Cost Per Page. Many versions also include a USB cable where North American and other English-speaking countries have to supply their own USB cable.
The Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 uses HP 678 Black and Tri-Color cartridges, and XL cartridges are not available. Prices were located on HP India's Web site and converted to USD from Rupees so here goes: an HP 678 black cartridge costs $8.24 and yields 480 ISO pages (1.72¢); an HP 678 Tri-color cartridge also costs $8.24 and yields 150 ISO pages (5.49¢). This translates into an ISO color Cost Per Page of 7.21¢. This is considerably lower (~13¢!) than the Cost Per Page of non-Ink Advantage HP printers.
In summary: if you can get one and find the ink cartridges, the Deskjet Ink Advantage 3545 is well worth consideration because of its very low ink costs and HP design and support.
