1.5v ram works too. the best match is patriot viper CL9 for lowest latency at 1600mhz ddr3 NOT L the a2000 6G/12G is currently the most powerful SFF GPU, can be had for $250/600 on amzn.

I scored one of these machines recently because it came with the I7 4790 that I will swap into my HPZ 230 that has the I5 4570. Asking prices for the I7 4790 CPU alone were 40-$50 but I got the HP Elite 800 G1 SFF for $33 so it was a nice deal. I also have an HPZ 620. I like the HP machines, except for their proprietary PSU's that are a bit troublesome to swap out for an ATX one. Thanks for sharing this video.

Hey, nice video. I gotta Hp Elitedesk 800 G3 SFFwith a i7 - 7700, 16Gb DDR4, and a GT 730 2gb. I bought a GTX 1650 for it, installed it, but after booting it back up, it won’t go past the HP startup screen and won’t load Windows. Would you happen to know what the issue is? Depends of CPU inside... I have i5-4670 and 1050Ti. Bottleneck is under 2% in both cases - CPU intencive or GPU intencive games.

If you require additional storage, with a compromise. Just use a NVMe Adaptor with a M.2 NVME drive in the pciex4 slot and you will get close to ssd speeds

Or you could just use clover boot manager. It supports multiple boot options including nvme booting. I used it to boot windows 10 on a old socket 478 pentium 4 motherboard with gen 1 PCI Express.

@@explorer9049 - Thanks for sharing that info. I've been using the HP Turbo PCIE cards on my older non NVME HP machines. I had to hunt down the rare Samsung 951 AHCI M.2 SSD's. Those will boot Windows with no problem, but obviously slower then an NVME. They still run twice as fast as a 2.5" SATA SSD.tho. Now I will check out the clover boot manager.

ive been following your channel since 2 years ago, and i make some awesome upgrade to my used hp 8300, one of wich is that i upgrade the gpu to rx 580 and replacing the psu with standard atx 600 watt silverstone plus some converter cable for the 24 pin, it cant fit anymore in the case so i made some modification using my dremel, anyway keep up the good vids.

Question, I have that same HP 800G1, I am going to install a Geforce GTX1650, I know the power comes from the PCI-E rail thru this 240 watt power supply. Nividia recommends at least 300 watt power supply. Will the GPU still work and will it work properly? If I upgrade the PSU, the watt at the rail would not increase anyway right?

It will still work, you won't use more than 180w most likely for the whole system. 65w for CPU, 75w for GPU, 40w for everything else is more than enough. This is napkin math, but point is it should work.

I say these 800 G1 2 3+ make great small nas or servers as you can install upto 3 3.5inch drive and a 2.5inch and or additional 2.5 in place of. DVD drive. Or g3 and up can have name m.2... as far as I know non of dell optiplex or thinkcenters can hold this much drives. Let me know if there are other brand SFF that can hold as much. I say skip G1 and get g2 and higher. Also 600 series upto G2 can hold same amount of HDDs

Can you take out the CPU from the elitedesk 800 g1 (i7-4770) to a new motherboard? I bought a case, power supply and a 24pin to 6pin adapter for the motherboard but the adapter didn't work, so Im thinking of transferring the CPU to another motherboard so I can use the powersupply

@@orochish532it really doesn't matter, I have a PC with 1650 Low profile, I7 4790 with 240W PSU and the 1650 hits 65 watts at most.

THIS^^^^^ My PSU says 240W. I've seen a few videos where people have connected about 4 SSDs, a CD/Bluray player and a SATA expansion adapter with no problems. Hell I've seen people have a few SSD's, wifi card and a sff gpu and no problems. I'm worried its not going to boot when I get my machine upgraded.
